My 5K Playlist: Musical Motivation
We’ve entered Week 4 of Run for God! And I’m so proud of the group of people I’m training with. You should see them out thereĀ in the rain, y’allĀ running with focus and determination! They’re the embodiment of Hebrews 12:1, which states: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, There’ve been so many times when I’ve looked out my window and thought Surely, we are not going to run in this and then I get to the church, listen to…

Happy Fist Bump Friday: Run for God, Week 1
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you know that I like to do a little something called “Fist Bump Friday”, where I encourage my friends to share something that made them happy during the week. Sometimes we get so bogged down with life and the crazy that comes with it that we forget to acknowledge the good things. So I thought it’d be fun if we all shared and celebrated together. This week I’m happy that Miss 17 and I completed Week 1 of Run for God, a 5K training program with a Jesus focused theme. We’re all kinds of excited about crossing that finish line in 12…

Run for God Cape Girardeau: 5K
Every time I look at this picture I’m struck by two thoughts: I crossed the finished line! My girls were right, I need to work on my runner’s face I remember that day so well… I was incredibly nervous as I made my way to the starting line. Part of me wanted to throw up run back to the car and tell The Hubs to get me out of there as fast as he could. Who was I that I thought I could get out there with all of those runners? They were real athletes, I just played one on my blog. I was an imposter. A poser. A fake.…

I’ve Registered for the Spark into Spring Virtual 5K
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that every blue moon I get a wild hair and decide that I want to do something like run a 5K. Ā Last year, I registered for the Children’s Advocacy Center’s 6th Annual Moonlight Run in Scranton but I ended up not being able to run it because of that whole temporary blindness thing. Ā I ended up walking it in 47 minutes. Ā Even though I was able to participate in last year’s race as a walker, my goal is still to run a 5K. Ā I won’t be able to participate in this year’s CAC 5K because of a scheduling conflict…

Children’s Advocacy Center 6th Annual Moonlight Run
Today was the Children’s Advocacy Center 6th Annual Moonlight Run and I did it! Well, I ended up having to walk it because of some health issues but I still did it and I’m pretty darned proud of myself. I started not to do it ~ all the way to Scranton,Ā I kept trying to come up with excuses for why I shouldn’t do this.Ā My nerves were getting the best of me…Ā I hadn’t eaten anything since 9:30 this morning and I was starving but I was too afraid to eat.Ā Honestly, you’d think I was running a marathon, it was just a walk to raise money for a worthy…
