In the Neighborhood: Zoo Boo
We didn’t celebrate Halloween when I was growing up. Religious reasons. When I had my own children, I let them dress up when they were little, although I made it perfectly clear that I was not a fan. Once they hit junior high, they stopped dressing up, but they’d go to their grandma’s house to hand out candy to the neighborhood kids. This continued until we moved away from Pennsylvania. After that, we became non-observant. The college where I currently work is heavily involved in community outreach. In fact, our biggest events are Zoo Boo, Alexandria Winter Fete, and Mardi Gras. Originally posted: 31 October 2009 On Wednesday afternoon, I received an email from my husband asking if I could come up with something to cook for a Halloween themed party he was having at work. Hmmmm….interesting request, especially since I hate Halloween {chalk it up to my upbringing, those who know my parents understand}.
