    Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2013! I’m so excited about the possibilities that come with a new year. It’s almost like life is giving us some sort of cosmic do over. And boy do I need it! I missed some of my goals for last year but I’m pressing forward and not dwelling on the past. I hope that you’ll continue to share this journey with me and that you’re just as excited for 2013 as I am… I began today much like I do any other day, with a cup of coffee. This is how I prepare myself for the day’s activities: a cup of coffee and a few minutes of silence. And…

    Photography: Changing My Perspective

I’m always on the lookout for new photography tips because, well, I’m trying desperately to teach myself how to use my camera. I’m not trying to become a pro or anything, I just wanna capture the best, most interesting shots that I can. So when I read Julie Rivera’s post on I Heart Faces about lowering your camera angle to change your perspective, I thought, I can do that. Generally, when I take pictures, I stand with my legs spread and my elbows pressed into my sidec for stability which means that I’m almost always looking down on my subjects instead of meeting them at their level (children and pets)…

A Day in My Life in Pictures

The other day, I read a guest post on i heart faces by Jason Zimmerman about how to capture a day in your life using pictures.  I absolutely loved his pictures and decided to give it a try.  My pictures didn’t come out as great, interesting or fascinating as his did but it’s my life and I love it.  And um, capturing a day in your life in photographs is harder than I thought. I took over 100 pictures using my GE X500, a tripod and cell phone.  At the end of the day, I narrowed it down to 62 images.  Then I uploaded them to my computer and began…
