My Plans for 2012 {Photography}
Wow! Can you believe it, we’ve made it to 2012! throws confetti I’m so very excited for what this new year will bring for me both personally and professionally. Yesterday, my daughter wrote the very first post for 2012 and I couldn’t agree more with her words ~ she said instead of sitting back and complaining about how bad last year was, take the initiative to make this year better and that’s exactly what I intend to do. I plan to make it better and to learn a lot along the way. Last year, I had a lot of fun getting used to my camera by participating in different challenges…

*CLOSED* My Memories Suite Digital Scrapbooking Software {Review and Giveaway ~ $39.97 Value}
When Miss 18 was born, I sat down with my art supplies and started putting together a scrapbook/baby book that I was sure would bring a smile to her face and tears to my eyes in the years to come. For two years, I maintained her baby book ~ updating it with photos, notes, comics and letters. Then I had the twins. So I created two more books and began the process all over again. But lemme tell ya, when baby #4 came along, I didn’t have the energy or the time. So all of the pictures were put into a photo box to be filed away at a later…

Cinnamon Buns {This or That Thursday}
When I was a little girl my mother used to surprise us with little breakfast treats. Sometimes it was cornbread pancakes. If you’ve never had them, for the love of all things good and delish, go buy yourself a box of Jiffy Cornbread mix and make some right now. Really, stop reading right now and go buy some. I’ll wait… Sometimes she’d surprise us with cinnamon buns. And she’d leave just enough icing in the container for us to dip our little fingers in and lick off. Really, isn’t that the best part of cinnamon buns anyway? This morning I decided to share a special treat with my family. Like my…

Photography {The Best of 2011}
This year, my interest in photography was piqued when I took a picture of the hubs while walking around downtown Wilkes~Barre, Pennsylvania. It was like something inside me came to life and I kept thinking I can’t believe I took this picture but I didn’t really take photography seriously as a hobby. I’ve since graduated from taking pictures with my cell phone to using a GE X500 to a Nikon D3100. Over the past year, I’ve participated in many photography challenges (I even had a picture make it into the Top 5! Woo hoo!), started following a few photography blogs and tried to challenge myself to look at ordinary things…

Shoot. Edit. Submit. {Getting to Know Missouri}
On our way home from an appointment, the hubs and I decided to take a little detour and look for the Old McKendree Chapel. The Old McKendree Chapel is the oldest Protestant church structure standing west of the Mississippi River, along the way, we passed this beautiful old home and I had to take a picture. I’m linking up with Misty and Kim at Through A Photographer’s Eyes for Shoot. Edit. Submit. To join in the fun, all you have to do is: Photo must be taken this week (Saturday ~ Friday) Only one entry per person “Shoot. Edit. Submit.” button or link back to the contest must be on the post…

This or That Thursday {Getting to Know Missouri}
Two days ago, while out driving with Miss 18, I got a little lost and ended up in a town called Burfordville. Burfordville is a sleepy little historic town which boasts one of Missouri’s few remaining covered bridges as well as a mill that was built in 1800, damaged during the Civil War and later rebuilt. If you’d like to read more about the Bollinger Mill Historic Site, you can click here (there are also some pretty sweet pictures of the mill and the bridge). While wandering around, my daughter and I noticed a little antique shop and decided to look around. The owner was gracious enough to allow me to…
