Children are a Heritage {Yarn Along}
A few weeks ago, a friend called to tell me that he and his wife are expecting their first son in early spring. I couldn’t have been more thrilled for them. I immediately started thinking about what I could get to help welcome their little one into the world and it occurred to me that the greatest gift that I could give is one that comes from the heart ~ a handmade baby blanket. The blanket will be made of 3 solid colors {dark brown, tan and baby blue} and blue, dark brown and tan multicolored granny squares. I’m trying to decide whether or not to use a contrasting yarn…

He Keeps Me in Peace {Word Filled Wednesday}
This past week and a half has been a tough one for me emotionally and spiritually. My sleep has been more fitful than usual and my waking hours have barely passed without me shedding more than a few tears. I’ve sent up the myriad questions to God about everything. Well, you know, he doesn’t have to answer to me but what he did do was provide me with the comfort that comes from knowing that no matter what I’m never alone and if I’ll just trust in him, I can lie down and sleep in peace. I’m linking up with: Internet Cafe Devotions ~ Word Filled Wednesday Project Alicia ~…

And It Was Good {Word Filled Wednesday}
And it was good. For the past few days, God has been dealing with me about the power of the tongue (truth be told, He’s been dealing with me and this issue for more than a few days) but the other day, it finally hit me… Genesis 1:3 says that God said let there be light and there was light. He didn’t go through a long creative process, He simply spoke and it was. And it was good. That is power. Jesus spoke and blinded eyes were opened. That is power. And as children of God, we also have that same power in our speech. We have the power to…

Think and Pray Before You Step {Word Filled Wednesday}
I’ve often said that I have the navigational skills of a monkey in a hurricane. Sometimes being directionally challenged has led me to wonderful discoveries such as the Bollinger Mill Historical Site and other times it has left me on the side of the road near breaking point because I wasn’t sure which way to go. But the one thing that I’ve learned throughout both of these experiences is that I need to have a plan. If I don’t want to get lost, I can’t simply rely on my GPS. I have to have a map and a fully charged phone. In our spiritual lives, sometimes we can feel like…

Word Filled Wednesday: Be Careful What You Loose
Have you ever angrily whispered, “Drop dead” to someone you love? Or typed a quick “Consider it done” when a friend has appealed to you for prayer over a situation in their life? Or said “God bless you” to someone who’s just sneezed? These are all examples of seemingly innocent utterances that pack a lot of punch. Proverbs 18:21 {NIV} says: The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. This means that we must guard our tongues and be careful of the words that we speak. When we’re talking over our lives and the lives of those around us, we…

Word Filled Wednesday: Remember the Sabbath
Google Friend Connect is disappearing soon, but I’d love for us to stay together. You can read my blog in your favorite reader through my RSS feed, join the conversation on Facebook or chat with me on Twitter. Make sure you give a shout out and let me know you’re there! Rush rush rush, it always seems like I’m in a hurry to catch up on stuff. That’s my life, 24/7. Whoa, wait! Did I just say 24/7? Yes, I did. And that’s a problem. The Lord tells us in Exodus 20:10 that the seventh day is the Lord’s day and on that day we nor anyone in our households…
