TBB ASKS MARCH BEAUTY

Andrea from Living On Cloud Nine is hosting this month’s round of TBB Asks… And the theme for March is beauty, so all the questions are related to skincare, hair, and makeup. Yay! Some of my favorite topics.

Here are my answers to the above questions, with links to appropriate photos {you know, just in case you’re curious}…

  1. Nope. Even though I probably should, since I wear glasses and all. I do wear black mascara daily. My hands down favorite is Maybelline Great Lash.
  2. I love dark vampy shades, so I alternate between black, brown, and deep burgundy. Right now, I’m wearing this incredibly sexy chocolate shade with a mauve accent nail (my ring finger). During the summer, I will lighten up and go with olives and muted tones like cement or dusky blues. But I always end up going dark again.
  3. Ummmm, this should come as no surprise if you follow me on Instagram, it’s a coffee color by Revlon. I also wear a shade by LipSense when I’m teaching that’s a deep berry {for the life of me, I can’t remember the exact name} . But, for the most part, most of my lipstick colors are a blend of 2 or 3 shades. Although, my sister did convince me to try this bold shade of red, which I positively adore but keep misplacing.
  4. When my hair was naturally curly, I let it air dry. Now that it’s chemically straightened, I blow dry it.
  5. I’ve never worn artificial nails before. I used to wear my nails long because I used to enjoy decorating them, now I keep them short and just do an accent nail.
  6. Absolutely. I have a big ol’ red birthmark that goes down the center of my face. It’s noticeable mostly when I laugh or cry, and since I don’t know when either is going to happen {thank you, hormones}, it’s best to stay protected. I used to cake it on so I’d cover my freckles {little yellow-skinned black girl + freckles + reddish brown hair = lots of teasing}. For the record, I totally dig them now.
  7. My hair is chin length, so mostly down. However, I did manage to put it in two messy buns this morning, so maybe it’s growing.
  8. I prefer body wash. Bath and Body Works is my safe place.
  9. Every time we move, I request that our new house have a ginormous tub. I end up using said tub once every few months. So, I’m gonna say that I like the idea of a bath, but end up in the shower.
  10. Queen Helene’s Cocoa Butter. This stuff is like the holy grail of ash control. And soothes stretchy skin during pregnancy {it’s been 21 years since my last kid was born and I still hand out little jars to people}.
  11. Most of the time no, because I like the smell of my hair products. When I do wear perfume, it’s A Thousand Wishes diamond shimmer from Bath and Body Works.
  12. Ummmm, not even every month.
  13. I have home Eos. Car Eos. Work Eos. Camera bag EOS. I’m an EOS-aholic.
  14. My parents are preachers so they were pretty strict. We were allowed to wear eyeliner and blush at 16 years old. I’m not sure why those were the two choices. But we did start dyeing our hair at a relatively young age {I think I was 13 or 14 the first time I dyed my hair and maybe 15 the first time I shaved it — neither of those went over well}.
