Bleu Chrys {living outside the stacks} #AdoptDontShop

Hi, I’d like for y’all to meet Bleu Chrys. Isn’t she adorable? She’s a 13 month old Terrier mix and she has already stolen our hearts. If you’d like to see more of Bleu on Instagram, follow her hashtag #BleuChrys.

It sounds so trite to say that our rescue rescued us, but she really did. Like I said on Instagram, the month of July was a hard one for me: my friend and coworker passed away unexpectedly and Squeekerz had to be put to sleep the morning of my friend’s funeral. Two big blows in the space of two weeks’ time. And I was also dealing with some personal things that had me gobsmacked.

The Hubs saw all of this and suggested that we go see if we could find a puppy. At first, I was hesitant. In fact, I said “No” because I thought it was too soon. He let it go and a few hours later, I was like “I want to go.” The first two places we went to didn’t have any dogs for adoption. But the third one did.

When we entered the Alexandria Animal Shelter, I had every intention of only looking UNLESS I saw a puppy. When we went back to look at the dogs, my eyes almost immediately landed on Bleu. She was in her cage, lying on the floor, not really paying us any attention. The other dogs, however, were jumping up and down, and barking. I knelt down and let her sniff my hand while The Hubs talked to her caretaker. I think he knew even before I did… I got up and walked around to the other side of the shelter and when I came back around he said “You know which one is the one.” And I nodded.

That was it. She was the one.

I named her Bleu because I wish that I’d been that creative when my kids were born. And there’s a character on the show Queen Sugar that I absolutely adore. His name is Bleu Bordelon. Chrys is short for Chrysanthemum. My youngest daughter picked that out.

Thank you all for all of your support during this tough time. You will never understand how much it has been appreciated it.

xoxo,
