I turned 51 on 10 March and, y’all, I still look around for the adult in the room and am gobsmacked when I realize I’m the freaking adult.

THE STORY

I usually try to get in front of the lens on my birthday, you know, for a birthday picture, but I wasn’t feeling it this year. I’d been dealing with a bout of food poisoning and wasn’t feeling or looking my best. But you only turn 51 once.

Since the prompt was detail, I decided to get a close up {or, at least, as close as I dared} shot of my freckles. I used to get teased mercilessly about my freckles — Black girl, glasses, braces, wild hair, and nerdy. Now that I’m older, I’m embrace them. Especially since I see people doing weird things like TATTOOING THEM ON TO THEIR FACES.

ABOUT THE 52 WEEK PROJECT

I get ambitious at the beginning of every year and start photography projects that I never finish. This year will be different. I will complete this project because I want one of those pretty little end-of-year photographic wrap-ups that I see on Instagram. So this year I’m going to try real hard to finish this challenge hosted by Sue Bahen with Click Community. If you’d like to join Click Community, you can click my affiliate link.
