My Photography Project: The Wedding
It is such a happiness when good people get together – and they always do. – Jane Austen Julie and Tom are such a fun couple. From the moment I met them {which was the day of the wedding} until we said our “good nights,” I felt nothing but love and friendship from them and their families. For a little background on our friendship, Julie is a friend of a high school friend that I also became friends with… I’m not even sure how long ago, but it has been years. When she announced that she was getting married, our mutual friend and I decided to attend the wedding. My…

My Photography Project: Christmas Mini
The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other. – Burton Hills CHRISTMAS CARD READY I wasn’t sure what to expect when I was asked to meet this sweet family at Grant Christmas Tree Farm for our Christmas Mini. The skies were overcast and the weather a bit chilly, in fact, the girls were shivering but you can barely tell from the images. They were such pros. The oldest one even offered posing suggestions, which I happily accepted. A FEW MORE FAVES Have a Very Merry Christmas! Happy Snapping, Follow Living…

My Photography Project: Mommy and Son Photo Shoot
βShe loved a boy very, very much β even more than she loved herself.β – Shel Silverstein MOMMY AND SON Toddlers are fun. And they do what they want. I learned that very quickly with this shoot. I’ve never done a styled shoot with a little before, so I went in thinking I could direct and pose. Nope. After I relaxed and decided to follow his lead, we were able to capture some really beautiful images that captured the connection between him and his mom. He told us he was going to Target after we finished to get a drink. This kid knows how to de-stress. …

My Photography Project: Birthday Shoot
“Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears.” β John Lennon THE BIRTHDAY SHOOT My coworker and I have been trying to arrange a photo shoot for a little over a year. This past Friday, it finally happened. We decided to set the shoot for 8 AM and, y’all, it was so hot. But Netartia kept her cool and we were able to get some amazing shots. I hope you enjoyed your day, My Friend! Happy Snapping, LET’S CONNECT Follow Living Outside the Stacks on Bloglovin’!

My Photography Project: The Graduate
THE GRADUATEΒ I met Nakia my first day on the job as the new librarian at the college. She came in with a group of practical nursing students and they were trying to print their handouts before the start of classes. She looked at me and asked “Are you our new librarian?” I told her I was and she said she was happy I was there because the school had been without a librarian for a while. From that point on, every time I saw her, she would yell: “Hey, Ms. Dani!” When she asked me if I’d take her graduation pictures I teared up and told her I would……

My Photography Project: The Power Suit
Nikon D850 + 50mm | ISO 1000, 1/2500, f/4.5 The people who make you smile from just seeing them, those are my favorite people. β Koi Fresco This is an image from a photo shoot that I did for a coworker. The whole time we were together, we could not stop laughing. I think that’s part of the reason these images came out so beautifully. I mean, Mrs. Liz is beautiful but her smile and her confidence are palpable. And I feel like I was able to capture that and so much more. Whenever I’m preparing for a shoot, one of the first things I do is find out the…

My Photography Project: Music I
Nikon D7500 + 35mm f/1.8G @ 18mm, ISO 1000, 1/40, f/6.3 Music does a lot of things for a lot of people. It’s transporting, for sure. It can take you right back, years back, to the very moment certain things happened in your life. It’s uplifting, it’s encouraging. It’s strengthening. – Aretha Franklin This is an image from a recent shoot that I did with a friend for her birthday… I was so nervous. She arranged for us to shoot at a theater and it was beyond intimidating. I was so nervous that I almost cancelled. When I make images for work there are no expectations. I shoot what I…

My Photography Studio: The Beginning
When we were moving to Louisiana, The Hubs and I were certain of two things: we wanted our main living space to be on one floor and we wanted a space to park our RV. What I had not thought about was a studio space, but The Hubs and I were talking about the unused bedrooms that we have upstairs and he suggested I turn one into a studio space. I don’t know why we didn’t think about this sooner. It’s genius. As you can tell, the room is in pretty rough shape right now. The carpets need to be replaced and the walls need to be painted. I’d also…

On My Front Porch: A Photography Project
Like many people in areas where the elected officials care about their constituents, we’re under Stay At Home Orders. And I’ve been trying to figure out how I can remember this time. I mean, we know it won’t last always. Right? Then it dawned on me: USE YOUR CAMERA. Yes, really, that was not my first thought. I think there was a disconnect because I don’t have kids at home. So, yeah, Daenel, that means that you have to get creative with your photography. It isn’t just people with kids who shoot, ya know? Anyway, I decided to start documenting life from my front porch. Not that there’s a lot…
