Run for God Cape Girardeau: 5K
Every time I look at this picture I’m struck by two thoughts: I crossed the finished line! My girls were right, I need to work on my runner’s face I remember that day so well… I was incredibly nervous as I made my way to the starting line. Part of me wanted to throw up run back to the car and tell The Hubs to get me out of there as fast as he could. Who was I that I thought I could get out there with all of those runners? They were real athletes, I just played one on my blog. I was an imposter. A poser. A fake.…

Happy Fist Bump Friday: Spring is Here
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you know that I like to do a little something called “Fist Bump Friday”, where I encourage my friends to share something that made them happy during the week. Sometimes we get so bogged down with life and the crazy that comes with it that we forget to acknowledge the good things. So I thought it’d be fun if we all shared and celebrated together. This week I’m happy that Spring is finally here. I know that doesn’t mean that it automatically gets warmer, but it brings hope. I’m also happy for a day off from work that’ll be spent hanging with…

Happy Anniversary: How I Met My Husband {In the Family Room}
Today, the hubs and I are celebrating 19 years of marriage, so I thought it’d be fun to share the story of how I met my husband… The year was 1994, and I was a sweet, innocent little soldier stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, about to celebrate my 2nd year in the Army. This is my story, I can tell it any way that I like, just rest assured that what I’m telling you is the whole truth. Â Anyway, I was sitting in the personnel office updating some paperwork, when I see these two guys in a separate part of the office looking at me. Â I acknowledged them and kept…

Throwback Thursday: Easy Vegetable Lasagna {In the Kitchen}
In honor of Throwback Thursday, a repost from 6 March 2012. Enjoy! It’s been a long time since I’ve posted about Meatless Monday, I guess because we’ve mostly been eating soups on those days but last night was totally different. I made a Vegetable Lasagna that was to die for… OK, truth, the girls and I loved it, the guys not so much. So while it may not be a total guy pleaser, I think it’s well worth trying. Ingredients 4 Zucchini (sliced) 1 Green Pepper (diced) 1 Red Onion (diced) 1 Package Frozen Spinach (defrosted) Mushrooms (sliced) Garlic Powder Salt & Pepper 1 Package lasagna noodles 2 (15 oz)…

House Tour: The Living Room
This is our ferocious guard dog, Squeekerz, he’d like to welcome you to our home. If you’d like to make a lifelong friend, please bring him cookies. Preferably, Girl Scout Shortbread but he’ll accept bread slices… A few weeks back, the kids and I were sitting in the living room talking when they announced that the living room was “too brown”. They proceeded to point out every brown object in the room. I can take a hint, I needed to add more color. So I went “shopping” around the house for a few items. The photos on the walls are pictures that I’ve taken here in Missouri and in Mississippi.…

House Tour: The Dining Room & Kitchen
Hi, and welcome to my home. I hope you’ll enjoy your visit… This is truly the heart of our home. We do everything in this space: eat, talk, laugh, pay bills, cry over said bills… We have a dining room/kitchen combo, which I absolutely love. I’ve found that as my kids have gotten older, I prefer the informal setting of a combination area. I like being part of the action. The hubs surprised me with the dining room table a while back. Long story short, he had given mine away with the promise of a new one… Skip ahead 6 months and we were still eating our meals at a…
