This is our ferocious guard dog, Squeekerz, he’d like to welcome you to our home. If you’d like to make a lifelong friend, please bring him cookies. Preferably, Girl Scout Shortbread but he’ll accept bread slices…
A few weeks back, the kids and I were sitting in the living room talking when they announced that the living room was “too brown”. They proceeded to point out every brown object in the room. I can take a hint, I needed to add more color. So I went “shopping” around the house for a few items.
The photos on the walls are pictures that I’ve taken here in Missouri and in Mississippi. The hubs had them printed and framed. Seriously, there’s nothing cooler than seeing your own art hanging on the wall. The two prints over the end tables were gifts from me to the hubs because I keep hoping they’ll inspire him to take a ballroom dance class with me.
I told you I’m obsessed with monkeys and have them scattered about the house. My favorites are candle holders, but I’ve found some monkey curtain rods that may be finding their way into my home soon. wink
A vintage embroidered purse and a carved wooden hand make unique table top accessories.
Modems are ugly little things, so I tucked mine away inside the bird cage. The picture in the corner is one the very first pictures that I ever took of the hubs. You can see a larger version here. See the camera in the corner? That belonged to the hubs waaaaay before I was ever in the picture. And the wooden box with the polka dot “bowl”? Handmade by the boy at 6 years and 16 years.
When we moved into the house, the hubs made me promise to make something just for us. I chose to create an afghan. The hubs picked the colors and helped me with the layout. Definitely a collaborative effort.
Well, that’s it. I hope you’ve enjoyed visiting our home. I think we’ve created a cozy spot that’s a true reflection of my eclectic tastes and the hubs classic style, with a bit of input from the kids.
