Coffee Talk {Living Outside the Stacks}So often when focusing on the news, we highlight the bad and ignore the good, well, this week, I want it all good…

1. A United Airlines crew held up a flight so that a man could make his connecting flight in order to be with his mom as she lay dying. Seriously, this made my eyes well up at my desk…  A man who was flying from California to Texas to be by his mom’s side missed his connecting flight and became distraught. Once the flight crew found out what happened, they offered the man some tissues and their apologies. In the meantime, the pilot called the connecting pilot and told of the man’s plight and the receiving air crew held up the flight until the man could make it.

As the man ran to board the plane, the crew greeted him with smiles and said “We’ve been waiting for you.” weeps

Edited to add that the man was able to spend time with his mom before she passed away.

2. A homeless man in Kansas City, Missouri has received more than $175,000 for returning a lost engagement ring. When asked why he returned the ring instead of keeping it or selling it, he replied “My mother raised me better than that.” Even in his need, he still remembered Momma and what she taught him.

3. I want to be like this Nana when I grow up…

She rocks, right?

So what made you smile this week?
