Losing Weight and Getting Healthy #15 {#Cinchspiration}
Here’s my last Cinchspiration update. I have to be honest and say that I haven’t been following the program as I should have over the last few weeks. In fact, I was completely off the program. But last week while I was at work, I was starving and while digging through my purse I found a Cinch bar, and was thrilled. Not sure if it was because I was starving or not, but that bar was the best thing I’d eaten in forever. Forever. So that was the start of me getting back on the wagon. And in that week I’ve gone back down to 155.4 which essentially means that…

Things That Leave Me Scratchin’ My Head {Coffee Talk}
1. It feels like every week there’s a new story about child sex abuse/murder/kidnapping. This week the news centers around the Boy Scouts and their so~called “Pervert Files”. It looks like they had the same policy as the Catholic Church and Penn State when it came to dealing with child predators… Why is it that organizations prefer to protect their reputations rather than protect the children who’ve been entrusted with their care? My honest~to~goodness~no~holds~barred opinion on this subject is that any and everyone who hurts a child should be put to death. No appeal. No languishing on Death Row for years. Just kill them. And anyone who protects or covers…

The Boy Has His License {This or That Thursday}
The state of Missouri has determined that the boy is competent enough to drive a vehicle. Congratulations, Son. I love you. But more than anything else, I love that my taxi duties have officially ended. I’m linking up with: Deb Duty Photography ~ This or That Thursday

Brown Boots and a Recipe {Shoe Style Saturday}
Happy Saturday! Do you have plans for this weekend? So far, I got nothin’. I may talk the hubs into visiting some more antique shops downtown. We’ve been doing that a lot lately. I’m totally digging the idea of upcycling and repurposing things. And the hubs is really getting in to it too. In fact, one of our favorite places right now is a little shop called Annie Laurie’s Antiques. You can read all about it by clicking here. This is our living room, the space we’re currently trying to decorate… I love the wall color and the wood ceiling. At first, I thought it’d be a little too cabiney…

Losing Weight and Getting Healthy #14 {#Cinchspiration}
There’s nothing new to report. My weight is holding steady at 155.6 lbs and has been for the last week and a half. I’m OK with that. As long as the number isn’t going up, I can deal. I’m still working on eating more vegetables. I don’t know why that’s such a difficult thing for me but it is. So my goal for this week is to work harder on increasing my fruit and veggie intake. I will also continue my daily walks with my co~workers and work harder at hitting 10,000 steps. To watch my weight loss story unfold, stay tuned as I blog, Facebook, vlog, tweet and pin my inches lost. You can follow the Team…

Things That Leave Me Scratchin’ My Head {Coffee Talk}
1. Did you watch the debate the other night? I did but that’s not what I want to talk about… What I want to talk about is the people who seem to have a hard time understanding that they cannot use their corporate Twitter accounts to say stupid stuff, it will cost them their jobs. Really, person behind the KitchenAid tweet that read: “Obamas gma even knew it was going 2 b bad! She died 3 days b4 he became president.” Agree with the President or not, show a little respect. And common sense. KitchenAid has apologized for the insensitive tweet. 2. Big ups to TV anchor, Jennifer Livingston, who…

Annie Laurie’s Antiques {Getting to Know Missouri}
Recently, I attended a presentation called “The Psychology of Now… In Retail and Fashion” by Lynn R. Moore. During the presentation, Lynn talked about current trends in retail and how people have shifted their thought from “I must have new” to “How can I reuse and/or recycle?” She talked about how people are thrifting more, shopping in vintage/second hand shops, garage sales, etc and upcycling their finds. She ended her talk with a discussion about the importance of buying local. One of the stores she mentioned was Annie Laurie’s Antiques. Now I’d been hearing about this shop pretty much since I moved to Missouri but I never quite found the…

Banned Books Week Review and Giveaway: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee {CLOSED}
I firmly believe in the right to free access to information. There are many books that I simply will not read for religious and/or personal reasons but I do not believe I have the right to ban those books from being read. If I censor your speech and your ideas, it’s just a matter of time before someone censors mine. This is not my normal book review but more of a discussion about some of the reasons why To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee has been challenged and/or banned over the years. SYNOPSIS OF TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD BY HARPER LEE Published in 1960, To Kill a Mockingbird is…

Things I’m Looking Forward to This Fall {About Me}
I know I’ve mentioned this before, but it never hurts to say it again, “I love sweater weather!” Fall is by far my favorite season of the year. I love snuggling up with cozy sweaters, eating comfort foods and watching my favorite TV shows. “Hell on Wheels“, anyone? But there are a few other things I’m looking forward to this Fall, some are old and some are new, either way I’m looking forward to everything that Fall has to offer: 1. Seasonal Coffee Flavors Oh sweet coffee! Not just the regular flavors but the seasonal ones like Salted Caramel Mocha. I’m so not a Pumpkin Spice Latte fan. Going to…
