Style Imitating Art: Ali Ibn Hamzeh Shrine in Shiraz, Iran

Hi, how was your weekend? Ours was OK. We didn’t do too much. A bit of grocery shopping, that’s about it. It’s been rainy and cold here, so we didn’t really feel like going anywhere. I can’t wait for Spring to arrive. I don’t mind the rain, I do mind the cold AND the rain though. But, what are you gonna do, right?

ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. My main tip for participating is not to just look at the colors but look at the textures, think about complimentary colors, etc. In other words, you don’t have to be literal your interpretation. It’s all about looking at the items in your closet in new and creative ways — mixing colors and patterns and just having fun.

This image provides so many opportunities: greens, golds, blacks, browns, sequins gasp, and embroidery.

MY LOOK

I wasn’t sure where I was gonna go with the inspiration piece, I just knew I wanted to do something different. So I grabbed my sequin tank and built my outfit around it. I added the necklace {a mash up of pieces I’ve collected over the years} for a little, I don’t know, sophistication.
