As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support.

Welcome to Style Imitating Art.Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Terri {Meadow Tree Style}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits with the curator by 10 PM Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

I chose this week’s inspiration piece.

Girl Embroidering, Seated in a Garden

I chose this image because I like the colors and the focus on embroidery, which is totally my thing.

This is my last Style Imitating Art for 2021, so I decided to do a review of sorts and share some of my favorite embroidered tops…

I can’t remember when or where I bought this tunic, I just know it’s been in my closet for years. In fact, I think it may be one of the first embroidered pieces that I’ve ever purchased. I’ve worn it with jeans, shorts, dress pants, and skirts… It’s just a beautiful tunic that offers so much versatility.

I ordered this top because I thought it looked elegant. The gold embroidery is just so very extra and so very me.

The embroidery on this top is done over a mesh netting. Everything about it is luxe.

This top is just fun. I love everything about it: the stripes, the embroidery, and the tassels.

Visit my cohosts: Salazar at 14 Shades of Grey and Terri and MeadowTree Style. I know you’ll love their interpretations!

Send a picture of your Style Imitating Art inspired outfit to me at by Tuesday, 30 November and I’ll share the submissions on my blog on Wednesday, 1 December.
