Dandelion {Shoot. Edit. Submit.}
Hi, if you’re new here please feel free to look around and leave a comment. If you like, you can also join me and the rest of my friends on Facebook by clicking here. I often wonder what my neighbors must think when they drive past my house and I’m stretched out on the ground taking pictures of dandelions. And by down on the ground, I mean I was literally in the mud when I took the above picture but it was so worth it, don’t you think? I’ve been practicing using the Manual settings and having so much fun (and seriously over exposing) with my shots. I need to…

March Photo~A~Day {This or That Thursday}
Longest week. Ever. My kid is still away from the nest so I’m on pins and needles until she returns. You know how it is when it’s your kids first time away from home… And if you don’t know, trust me, it’ll happen. Thankfully, I have the antics of my other kids to keep me laughing. And, of course, the hubs is here to talk me off the ledge. But, mostly, I’ve been relying on various photography challenges to keep my mind occupied. It’s a good thing I’m distracted by shiny… To see a larger version, please click here These are my photos from 8~14 March. The prompts were: Window…

If This Is Winter, I’ll Take It
It has been crazy beautiful here in Missouri. Really, if this is what winter is like down in the south, I’ll take it. What’s like in your neck of the woods?

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was beyond wonderful. My twin sister and I celebrated our 39th birthday {you can read the crazy story surrounding our birth by going here} and the hubs and I celebrated our 17th anniversary. Longest starter marriage. Ever. But, most importantly, the hubs was baptized today! 1. Water From the archives. There’s something about black and white photos of rain that bring me such a feeling of peace. 2. Light This was taken for the March Photo~A~Day Challenge. I like the way the light from my lamp casts a subtle glow over my night stand. 3. Chocolate I love Cadbury Creme Eggs.…

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
This week’s Scavenger Hunt Photos were literally taken at the last minute. Well, all of them except for the first one. I don’t know why I was slacking but I was but, lemme tell ya, when you feel the pressure it makes it kinda fun and you get all kinds of creative… 1. Routine Not really a part of my routine but every now and then I have to bust out the ol’ iron and ironing board to keep the hubs happy and neat. 2. Music My teens seem to spend an awful lot of time with those thingies in the ears. I suspect they listen to their music to…

March Photo~A~Day Challenge {Photography}
Oh, yes, I’m at again. Except this time I’m being overly ambitious and doing a daily photo challenge. For. The. Entire. Month. Of. March. I know, right? Because I didn’t learn anything the first time I tried this. Well, that’s actually not true. I learned that I can’t rely on my own creativity, so thanks to some helpful prompts by fat mum slim, I’ll be stretching my photographic muscles all month long. Would you like to participate? Here are the rules: Starting 1 March take a picture using the inspiration from the prompt. Once you’ve taken your photo, share the picture on your blog, Facebook page, Twitter, flickr or other…

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Today was crazy! I was getting out of the car at church and I heard a riiiip. Yep, my whole backside was exposed because I ripped my skirt. I mumbled a quick explanation to the minister and went back home. Fortunately, I was in the parking lot when it happened, but still… It was hard to make graceful exit without mooning everyone. 1. Crossed The back of a wrought iron chair on the front porch where the hubs and I like to sit and enjoy evening coffees. 2. A Glimpse Miss 15, the only family member who will let me photograph her. Like her mother, she enjoys the attention. 3.…

Saturday at the Water Front
This has been one beautiful weekend. The weather was gorgeous. So gorgeous, in fact, that I conned talked the hubs into driving me down to the Water Front so I could take some pictures. I needed a landscape picture for 52 Weeks: 2012 Edition, so I pointed my camera at the Mississippi River and started shooting… Isn’t it beautiful? Sometimes I like to go down there during the day and just sit and watch the water. It’s a nice way to just sit back and relax, ya know? Someone on the Water Front is pretty artistic, they took the time to paint those bricks and then discarded them on the…

Calm {Poetic Winter Photography Challenge}
A verse from one of my mother’s favorite songs. When I was little she used to sing it all the time.  How can you not find calm in the midst of such beautiful words? When I’m in need of peace and quiet, I often grab my camera and go to the Cape Girardeau Conservation Center. Just walking in the woods, listening to the whisper of the wind helps me to center. And at the end of the night, when everyone is snuggled in their beds, I cozy up on the sofa with a book and a cup of green tea. I’m linking up with Alicia of Project Alicia,  Faith of Sweet Violet, Kristi…

Randomness {This or That Thursday}
Has this week flown by or what? I’m trying to remember what I could have done to make it go by so quickly but, yeah, I got nothing. Maybe it’s just that I’m getting older and time flies… I’m finally starting to branch out and get a little more creative with my self portraits. It’s nice to do more than take pictures of my face. Thank you, Creators of Photoshop. Do you see all those buttons? Aren’t they pretty? I originally bought them to use as accessories on scarves that I crochet but I’ve stopped crocheting so now I have a ton of buttons just sitting in a drawer. I’m…
