Cape Girardeau Conservation Center {This or That Thursday}
After running some errands, Miss 18 and I decided to stop by the Conservation Center and go for a walk. I love it there. It’s so peaceful and quiet. Well, you know, except when you get down in the woods and you hear stuff moving amongst the trees but you don’t see anything. That’s kinda freaky. And Miss 18 didn’t help with all the jumping and screaming she was doing. Still I managed to get some great pictures… In her defense, I did my fair share of jumping too, but I was the one on the ground with the spiders that she kept pointing out to me. And, nope, there…

Cinnamon Buns {This or That Thursday}
When I was a little girl my mother used to surprise us with little breakfast treats. Sometimes it was cornbread pancakes. If you’ve never had them, for the love of all things good and delish, go buy yourself a box of Jiffy Cornbread mix and make some right now. Really, stop reading right now and go buy some. I’ll wait… Sometimes she’d surprise us with cinnamon buns. And she’d leave just enough icing in the container for us to dip our little fingers in and lick off. Really, isn’t that the best part of cinnamon buns anyway? This morning I decided to share a special treat with my family. Like my…

This or That Thursday {Getting to Know Missouri}
Two days ago, while out driving with Miss 18, I got a little lost and ended up in a town called Burfordville. Burfordville is a sleepy little historic town which boasts one of Missouri’s few remaining covered bridges as well as a mill that was built in 1800, damaged during the Civil War and later rebuilt. If you’d like to read more about the Bollinger Mill Historic Site, you can click here (there are also some pretty sweet pictures of the mill and the bridge). While wandering around, my daughter and I noticed a little antique shop and decided to look around. The owner was gracious enough to allow me to…

This or That Thursday
My sisters and I spent most of our formative years in Italy (thanks to my stepdad and the United States Air Force) and while we were over there, my parents acquired many beautiful treasures ~ statutes, glass pieces, vases, etc. But the one thing they had that I always wanted was the marble and wood chess set, where my dad and I used to sit and play chess (for minutes on end ~ I’m really bad at the game). When I moved out on my own, my very first piece of furniture was the chess set and it has been displayed in every home I’ve lived in for over 18…

This or That Thursday
Google Friend Connect is disappearing soon, but I’d love for us to stay together. You can read my blog in your favorite reader through my RSS feed, join the conversation on Facebook or chat with me on Twitter. Make sure you give a shout out and let me know you’re there! Eep! This is it, the last month of the year! How is that even possible? Weren’t we all just wearing shorts and complaining about the heat only a few days ago? I’m so glad that the hubs and the kids have been so supportive of my growing interest in photography and blogging. I’m happy that they’ve allowed me to…

This or That Thursday #NaBloPoMo
This week has been spent learning how to use Nia, my new Nikon D3100. I have to admit, I was a bit intimidated by all the settings but the Guide setting has made it so easy to figure out what I’m doing. I’ve practiced using the Automatic, Guide and Manual settings and I’m pretty impressed with the quality of all of the photos, but I also see that I have a long way to go but here are a few of my shots from this week: My dog, Squeekerz… This was taken at my house using the flash and overhead lighting, I also used the Macro setting Night Scene I…
