Hey, Friends! How are y’all doing? I’m doing well over here. We’re nearing the end of the semester, so things are both hectic and slowing down {if that’s possible}. The students are prepping for Finals, while we’re prepping for graduation. Like most academics, this is my favorite time of year — we get to celebrate our students and all the hard work they’ve put in over the years. Additionally, both of my nephews are graduating from high school. It’s a big year, full of celebration and promise.

ABOUT WHERE BLOGGERS LIVE

Welcome to the monthly edition of Where Bloggers Live. It’s kind of like HGTV’s “Celebrities at Home,” but…Bloggers! Who doesn’t like to peek behind the scenes and see inside people’s homes? Over the next few months, we’ll share about our work spaces, home towns, and more!

I should note – because this is super important – the creative brain behind this project is Bettye at Fashion Schlub! Love her!

THE PROMPT: How I Deal with Boredom

My sisters and I are military brats — our bio dad was in the Army and our stepfather was in the Air Force – so we grew up with a lot of hurry up and wait. Furthermore, my stepfather and mom were preachers, so we spent a lot of time waiting between and after church services to go home, so one thing I’ve learned to do is deal with boredom.

When I was a kid, I used to drink a lot of coffee {this is when my love affair with coffee started} and read books while waiting on my parents. That hasn’t changed. I almost always have a cup of coffee and a book on me wherever I go.

I’m currently reading Sula with @wellreadblackgirl on Instagram. I can’t believe I’ve never read this book before. Have you read it?

I also listen to a lot of podcasts, most of them are political in nature, but I listen to a few bookish podcasts as well. Oh, and audiobooks. I loooooove audiobooks. It’s like having someone tell you a story — so very relaxing.

When I don’t feel like reading or talking, I turn on the TV, usually MSNBC, QVC, or HSN {it depends on what they’re selling — I like the style and accessory shows} because I like having background noise, and get down to an intense game of Bejeweled. I prefer the Ice Storm version but will play the Classic version on occasion. When my kids were little, they used to take my cell phone and play Snake; do you remember that game? It came on every cell phone way back in the day.

I also scroll Instagram and send  memes to my family and friends. As much as I’m anti-video on Insta, sometimes they’re so funny I can’t help but to share them.

So, that’s about it. I mean, when all of that fails, I just take a nap. Naps solve just about everything. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’d love to read your answers to a couple of these questions, please share in the comments below.
