ABOUT WHERE BLOGGERS LIVE

Welcome to the monthly edition of Where Bloggers Live. It’s kind of like HGTV’s “Celebrities at Home,” but…Bloggers! Who doesn’t like to peek behind the scenes and see inside people’s homes? Over the next few months, a group of seven bloggers will be sharing their work spaces, their homes, towns and more!

I should note – because this is super important – the creative brain behind this project is Bettye at Fashion Schlub! Love her!

THE THEME: The Entryway

When you come in the house {or welcome people to your home} what’s the first space they see? In our house, it’s the toilet. I kid you not. The view used to be worse. The path to the “throne” used to be highlighted by the most horrendous wallpaper and cranberry orange paint combination. The wallpaper is still there, but the paint has been replaced by a creamy off white paint and, whoa, what a difference. I mean, I still want the wallpaper gone {it doesn’t go with anything in my house}, but it’s not nearly as offensive as it used to be. We also have acoustic ceilings, but they don’t bother me nearly as much as the ratty wallpaper.

I’ve seen snippets of the original wallpaper underneath the striped stuff and it’s actually pretty cool. If you ever watch Good Bones, they do this episode where they started scraping old wallpaper off the walls and found this really cool vintage paper underneath and they left it. One wall, with bits and pieces of wallpaper missing but it was stunning. Very eclectic. Much like my style.

I do have plans to revamp the front entryway created a whole Pinterest board about how I’d like for it to look. You can see my fantasy entryway here. I also want to replace that carpet going up the stairs. In case you’re wondering, there are plans to fancy up the front door as well. Honestly, I like the door, I just don’t like the color. I kinda want to paint it black. There’s something so sleek and sexy about a black door. But I wouldn’t be angry if The Hubs surprised me with a vintage wood door with a giant window either. Then again, since that hall leads directly to the toilet, maybe not…

To see the entry we use, see this post about my home office. Yup, my home office is in the back entry of our house. We use this door because it’s attached to our carport and also has a door to our backyard. This space also doubles (triples?) as Bleu’s bedroom. Yeah, she’s a little spoiled.

I’m not sure what was going on with her in that picture… Maybe she was weighing her chances of escape?
