Hi, and welcome to the next installment of Where Bloggers Live. I hope you’ve had as much fun reading these posts as I have writing them. At first, I was just like, yeah, that’ll be fun, but these posts have made me stop and think about my life, my community, the things I hold dear… Or maybe I’m just getting all hazy from being inside the house for months on end. Who knows?

This month’s theme is “Vacation.” I wasn’t sure how I was gonna handle this because we haven’t been on vacation in months. Unless you count going to the grocery store, because, honestly, I do get dressed up for that trip now. My standards are low. But here are a few pictures from previous vacations and a little blip about my dream vacation. Please leave a comment telling me where you’d like to go when the pandemic ends. Let’s all dream together.

REAL VACATION: THE RV

For years, The Hubs had been trying to convince me to get an RV. Y’all, I served 4 years in the Army, my camping days were behind me… Unless, he was talking about something like this. After a few years of back and forth, I finally agreed to tour some RVs, but I told him I had a very specific list of requirements:

  • space for a coffee bar
  • room for Squeekerz
  • two doors {I’ve watched horror movies}

I honestly didn’t think it’d happen but it did.

And, guess what? I ended up loving it. Some of the best sleep of my life occurs when we’re in the RV. I don’t know if it’s because we’re somewhere new or if it’s the RV, the nature, what, but it’s incredibly relaxing.

Lake Blackshear, GA

Our first RV trip was to Lake Blackshear. You guys, it was so beautiful and relaxing that I really only took a handful of pictures, which you can see here.

The Hubs did all the setting up and taking down. All I had to do was flip a switch to extend and retract the slide outs and make sure the antenna was down before we hit the road. Bliss. Lazy, happy, bliss.

Lake Tobesofkee, GA

Lake Tobesofkee was one of the first places we visited. It was so incredibly beautiful. The water, the people, everything… There’s cable TV, internet access, and everything, but we spent most of our time either at the lake, reading, or sleeping.

Our RV came equipped with an outdoor stove, which The Hubs used to make us breakfast and dinner. Y’all, whenever we went out in the RV, he took over the cooking duties.

We also took a tour of the Tubman Museum. It was educational, humbling, and awe-inspiring.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to go out in the RV since last year due to an accident. But we do plan to replace our current one at some point. I think we want to look at getting the driver type next, especially since we now know that we both enjoy it. Once we start traveling again, you can follow our adventures on Instagram with the hashtag #TeamLOTSTravels.

DREAM VACATION: ITALY

I grew up in a small town in northern Italy called Roveredo. My dad was in the Air Force and was stationed at Aviano Air Base. It was the most incredible experience. I have fond memories of the people, the places, and the food {ohmygosh, the food}.

We were there from the beginning of our 6th grade year to the end of our 11th grade year. I have a twin sister and a younger sister, as well as three stepsisters and a stepbrother. Yes, my parents moved us from Italy to Mississippi at the beginning of our senior year. We were devastated. We  had to leave everyone and everything we knew and learn to function in a whole new culture during our SENIOR YEAR.

Our teachers, friends’ parents, everyone asked my mom to let us stay and finish our senior year but nope… They even promised to walk us off the stage and onto a plane but nope…

Anyway, my dream vacation would be to take The Hubs and the kids to see where I grew up. There are precious few pictures of me as a kid and even fewer of our home and the places we visited while there.
