ABOUT WHERE BLOGGERS LIVE

Welcome to the monthly edition of Where Bloggers Live. It’s kind of like HGTV’s “Celebrities at Home,” but…Bloggers! Who doesn’t like to peek behind the scenes and see inside people’s homes? Over the next few months, a group of seven bloggers will be sharing their work spaces, their homes, towns and more!

I should note – because this is super important – the creative brain behind this project is Bettye at Fashion Schlub! Love her!

Make sure you visit everyone to see where the magic happens!

THE THEME

A little known fact about me: I’m obsessed with velvet. I just love the way it feels – luxurious and posh and bohemian and expensive and just, I don’t know, pinky out chic. So one day while strolling the aisles of Target, I came across these green velvet curtains with the little gold tassels and literally squealed in the aisle. I didn’t know where in my house they were going, but I knew they were going somewhere. This is where I should mention that I am anti-curtain. So you know I had to be totally in love in order to take some green velvet curtains to my house. I should also note there is nothing in my house that remotely matches or goes with green velvet or gold tassels.

When he saw the curtains, The Hubs looked at me and basically told me I’m not to go to Target unattended again. To which I remarked, I was not unattended, my sister was on the phone the whole time. snicker Because I’m anti-curtain and I delight in annoying The Hubs, I hung the curtains in our bedroom. But the curtains didn’t match our bedspread {white eyelet with gold specks}; it really looked awful with the lush green velvet curtains, so after almost a year, I finally accepted that the curtains had to go.

I was broken hearted.

Then Target struck again. I was on their website and saw this bedding set and had. to. have. it.

Earlier in the week, The Hubs had told me to go ahead and find something that I liked. I really liked this.

I had to have almost the entire thing. Surprisingly, The Hubs said that he also liked the bedding set. Well, he liked everything except all the pink and pink adjacent items. The comforter is gray, which provides a nice neutral for all of the colors, while the VELVET coverlets are chartreuse and olive. The throw pillows and body pillow are rust, olive, and black and cream.

Years before we bought our first home, I knew that I was going to have mica lamps in my home. I’m not really even sure when or how I discovered them, I just know that I’ve loved them since I was a kid. These lamps are well over ten years old and they’re still one of my favorite decorative items.

The Hubs and I like to travel in our RV and visit antique shops on the weekends {pre-COVID} and it was during one of these weekend trips that The Hubs found this beautiful cedar trunk {1916}. I use it to store my sweaters — they smell so good when they come out of there.

If you remember the closet tour, the door to the left opens to my closet. The door to the right is the closet for The Hubs.

Bleu has a bed in our room, but most of the time you’ll find her on the carpet in front of the door or, if I’m sorting laundry, on one of the piles.

I didn’t mention the bedroom furniture. It was picked out and purchased by The Hubs. He did a good job, right?

Oh, and the mirror… That was a housewarming gift from The Hubs when we moved to Georgia.

So that’s it. That’s our bedroom: a comfy, cozy bohemian nest.

My decor style is a mix of eclectic, bohemian, and mid-century modern. Do you have a style? If you need inspiration, feel free to check out my Pinterest board.
