Y’all. Twenty twenty-five pretty much shoved twenty twenty-four out the door, grabbed the hardest liquor in the cabinet, and said “I’ll take it from here.” I mean, seriously, what the actual ______ is this nonsense? How do we start the freaking year off with terrorist attacks, a mass shooting, expansionist threats, and a devastating fire? This is all just too much. Sorry, didn’t mean to start off quite so, I don’t even know the words, but this is pretty much what I’m feeling right now. But we’re gonna plow through this. We’re survivors, right? Right.

On a more positive note, The Hubs, my sister, her husband, and I ended the year at a beautiful bed and breakfast in Jackson, Mississippi called The Orchid, you can read all about it here.  This was the first time my sister and I, along with our spouses, have gone away together; I’m pretty sure we’ll do it again. We had a great time just relaxing and spending time with each other.

THE PROMPT: My New Year’s Resolutions

I’m not a resolutions kind of person. I always end up failing at them within the first three weeks and then I get frustrated. Rather than do that to myself, I stopped setting myself up for failure. Then I tried the vision board trend and discovered that didn’t work for me either. I had a hard time finding images that I thought reflected me. I also had a difficult time figuring out what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I stopped.

Then, while scrolling TikTok, I came across a TikTokker named Between Sips and Pages, who shared that she was playing Bingo with her 2025 goals rather than writing out resolutions or creating a vision board. I was intrigued by this idea because the focus is less on the visuals and more on the goals.

I wrote about the process of creating my Bingo card here. My goals are focused on health and well being, family relationships, blogging and other hobbies, and community service and career opportunities. I haven’t decided how I want to treat myself when I reach “Bingo,” but it’ll probably be a piece of jewelry {I’ve really gotten into jewelry in the last few months}. However, if you have some suggestions, please feel free to share.
