July {living outside the stacks}

How’s your summer going so far? Mine has been pretty good. I spent some time with my daughter and her girlfriend a little over a week ago and, y’all, when I say hanging out with your adult children is momming on a whole different level, it really is. I had such a good time. If you’d like to see a few pictures, click here. It’s one thing to love your kids because they’re yours, but liking them, I mean genuinely liking the adults they’ve become, that is powerful.

I also went to the Louisiana Library Association Conference in Baton Rouge. At first, I didn’t think I’d be able to attend, but my original plans changed at the last minute… You can see my pictures by clicking here. This was one of the few times I didn’t take my “Big Girl Camera” with me, because I wanted to force myself to use my cell phone. Over the last few months, I’ve taken mobile photography and videography courses. While I like using my camera, sometimes it can be a little inconvenient. And I wanted to take the videography course because I’d like to be able to take videos of my time with my kids and, you know, when I go on vacation.

ABOUT 10 ON THE 10TH

July 10 on the 10th

10 on the 10th is hosted by Marsha at Marsha in the Middle. In the tradition of old school blogging, she’ll share a list of ten questions or prompts to help us get to know each other better. The linkup goes live on the tenth of the month.

THE PROMPT: “Would You Rather…”

10 on the 10th {living outside the stacks}

  1. Would you rather get up early to see the sun rise, or stay up late to see the sun set?
    I’m a night owl and an early riser, so I’ve seen both. But, if I had my preference, I’d love to be at the beach watching the sun set. No conversation, just the sound of the water, rolling in and out and a cup of hot coffee in my hands.
  2. Would you rather wear sneakers or flip flops?
    I looooooove shoes. Like I build my whole outfit around which pair I’m feel like wearing that day. And, although I own several pairs of sneakers and love the way they look with dresses, I prefer wearing flip flops. And, by flip flops, I mean Birkenstocks or White Mountain because they have solid footbeds and the comfort is unmatched.
  3. Would you rather have to wear a tutu to the beach or a tiara to the pool?
    I once wore a tiara while walking the streets of Scranton, so wearing a tiara to the pool is a total me thing to do. And I’d do it in full makeup with the aforementioned Birkis or White Mountains.
  4. Would you rather have a pool full of Jello or a slip and slide full of pudding?
    Both of these options are pretty gross, but if I had to pick one, it’d be a pool full of Jello.
  5. Would you rather live in a tree house or on a boat?
    I’d live in a tree house. Have you been watching the news? The water ain’t our friend right now.
  6. Would you rather camp in a yurt or a camper?
    Money no object, I would have a customized Airstream Travel Trailer. I love the retro feel.
  7. Would you rather walk barefoot on grass or walk barefoot in the sand?
    Definitely barefoot in the sand. While my sister and I were in Florida, that was one of the things I enjoyed most, walking barefoot in the sand, with the water lapping at my ankles. The water was so cold, yet incredibly relaxing at the same time.
  8. Would you rather go water skiing or water tubing?
    I’d love to try water tubing. Nothing too adventurous. Just gentle floating on a peaceful river, with a cold drink in my hand. And music playing.
  9. Would you rather be covered in watermelon juice or ketchup?
    These food questions are weird. I really don’t want either.
  10. Would you rather go on a hot air balloon ride or a helicopter tour?
    My daughters went on a hot air balloon ride, and it looked like they had a blast. I don’t know that I would’ve been brave enough to give it a try. I’d go on a helicopter tour though. Over New Orleans, my favorite city.

I’d love to read your answers to a couple of these questions, please share in the comments below.
