Hey, ya’ll, hey! Welcome to the first 10 on the 10th of 2023! Can you believe it’s 2023? In so many ways it feels like time just sopped, but it also feels like it’s flying by. It’s such a weird feeling, ya know? Do you have any big plans for the year? So far, I’ve got nothing. Much like last year and the year before that and the year before that, I’m just taking things day by day… Actually, that’s not true. I am working on a new photography project. I’m trying to take a picture a day for 365 days. I’ve tried this every year for the past couple of years and have never managed to complete one because I run out of things to photograph. Anyway, you can see my first week of pictures here and, if you’d like to hold me accountable, feel free to follow along on Instagram.
THE PROMPT: Would You Rather…
Would you rather make resolutions, select a word of the year, or make bucket lists?
I don’t do any of those because I already have enough ways to disappoint myself. Haha now that I’m rereading my introductory paragraph, I realize that I’m contradicting myself. Oh, well, that’s what I do…
Would you rather make memories on vacations or safe for a big occasion (retirement, wedding, college, etc.)?
I’d rather make memories on a vacation… To be honest, I haven’t been on a real vacation in forever, so I’m due. At this point, I’m not even picky about where I want to go, as long as it’s some place warm.
Would you rather buy all the things on sale or shop your closet?
I really need to shop my closet. I have so many cool pieces of clothing that don’t get the love they deserve. Also, I’ve decided to be more intentional in my purchases and focus more on sustainability. For me, this means finding ways to diversify the way that I wear what I currently own and, when needed {or wanted}, adding only second-hand or repurposed items. I’m drawn to this because I have a very unique style and I think by focusing on pre-loved items and pairing them with things that are already in my closet, I can maintain my individuality and not see myself coming and going like you do when you shop traditional stores. I’ve also been heavily inspired by this Instagram account.
Would you rather shed weight through fad dieting and do it quickly or eat differently and lose slowly?
I’m currently on a weight loss program paid for through my insurance company and it is not working. In fact, I somehow managed to gain weight. However, I have lost a little over 5 lbs in the week that I’ve been home with Covid. Not the best way to lose weight, but I’m using this as a jumpstart to get me where I want to be. To maintain and push forward with the “progress” I’ve made, I signed up for Jumpstart Your January Fitness Challenge with Traci. This is a fitness program for women over 50 {I’ll be 50 in March}, that helps women to reach their fitness goals by starting where they are. As I’m recovering from Covid, I feel like I have to start at the beginning.
Would you rather undergo some type of facial treatment or update a room in your home?
I’d rather update a room in our house. Our primary bathroom would be first on the list of renovations, but if we couldn’t do that, then I’d want to update my home office. I currently share the space with Bleu and Lola but I feel like the configuration and decor could be so much better than it is currently. I just can’t figure out how to make my vision a reality. There are these two big beautiful windows, and I really like being able to face them, but that also means that my back is to the room and everything is pushed up against the walls. I’d also like to be able to use this space for my photography because of the windows. If I had a decorator come in, I’d show office spaces like this, this, or any of these.
Would you rather watch Paul Hollywood or RuPaul?
I don’t know who Paul Hollywood is and I’m not a fan of RuPaul, so I’ll pass on both.
Would you rather have to wear the same color all year or not wear that color at all?
My wardrobe is pretty colorful, so I’m fine either way. There are so many different ways to wear a singular color, so I don’t think I’d get bored. That being said, I do like variety. But if I were to give up a color, it’d be green. I don’t wear a lot of that color, so I’d be ok with letting it go.
Would you rather wear a designer look or a designer knockoff?
I’d rather go with a designer look but only because I know that many designer knockoffs are either made in sweatshops or they were gotten in some shady manner. However, I wouldn’t want to pay designer prices, so I’d be scouring second hand shops for pre-loved pieces.
Would you rather be overdressed or underdressed at a special occasion?
I will always be the one who is overdressed. I love clothes and I really enjoy putting together outfits, so, yeah, overdressed at all times.
Would rather have only neutral clothing or extremely colorful clothing?
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m all about the color. And if you don’t, feel free to visit some of my style related blog posts.
