February 10 on the 10th: 10 Things I Hate to Love
As is my usual habit, I’m late with this month’s prompt. This time, I do have a somewhat legit excuse: work has been crazy busy. We’ve had a combination Black History Month / Heart Month celebration going on for the past week, which has resulted in toooooooons of pictures that needed to be edited and uploaded to my college’s social media and, by the time I’m finished, the last thing I wanna do is write a blog post. The events have been incredibly fun and well-attended, so that’s been great. THE PROMPT: 10 Things I Hate to Love Dirt – specifically, the smell of my houseplants after I’ve watered them.…

January 10 on the 10th: Ten Things I Won’t Be Doing in 2026
Hey, y’all, hey! It’s time for our first 10 on the 10th of 2026! And I’m not gonna lie, this has already been a long year and we’re only ten days in. That being said, I do have some fun things to look forward to this year: a work conference, two personal photography projects, and a few other things. Do you have anything you’re looking forward to accomplishing this year? THE PROMPT: 10 Things I won’t be doing in 2026 I’ve never been much of a resolutions kind of person because I’ve usually tapped out by third or fourth day of the month and whispering to myself: “We’ll start this…

March 10 on the 10th: Let’s Celebrate Pi!
I cannot believe we’re turning 52 today. Yes, I said “we.” There are two of me. You can see pictures of my twin sister and me here and here. Or you can read about our birth story here {Long story short: we’re 45 minutes apart, Shontel was born in the back of a police car and I was born at the hospital door}. We like to say we’re nothing alike, but I think we’ve become a little more similar as we’ve gotten older. Our style has certainly become a little more in tune. She used to be very glam, now she’s a little more eclectic. Still glam but with a…

February 10 on the 10th: Would You Rather, Valentine’s Day Edition
I’m a week late, but here it is, my contribution to this month’s 10 on the 10th, the Valentine’s Day edition. THE PROMPT: Would you rather… Would you rather celebrate Valentine’s Day at a cozy restaurant or at home cozied up in your favorite jammies? Give me a pair of cozy jammies any day. I hate being cold and going outside in February {even in Louisiana} means you may be dealing with frigid temps. I want my flannels, fuzzy socks, and a cozy blanket. Would you rather eat Red Velvet Cake or wear red velvet? If you’ve been around here before, you know I love myself some velvet {for proof,…

January 10 on the 10th: 10 Things to Remember or Forget about 2024
Happy New Year, Friends! Knowing all that’s going on, it feels so, I don’t know, out of touch to say that… Still, I do wish all of you a happy new year and for those who are suffering, I pray for comfort and peace. THE PROMPT: Ten Things You Either Want to Remember or Forget About 2024 Last year was such a blur that I actually put on my goal list that I wanted to record one memory in my planner at the end of the day. Good Memories Two of my daughters and I flew to Pennsylvania to surprise my mother-in-law. And, while we were there, we got to…

10 on the 10th: August 2024
Classes start on Monday and I’m ready for it. Granted, I’m not a student, so my path is a little easier. I always look forward to the beginning of the school year, the students are all lively and full of hope and promise. The energy is palpable — I love it. With that being said, here are five things I liked and disliked about my own school experiences. ABOUT 10 ON THE 10TH 10 on the 10th is hosted by Marsha at Marsha in the Middle. 10 on the 10th: July 2024
It’s funny that this is the prompt for this month, as I’ve just returned from an impromptu trip to Pennsylvania with my daughters. Originally, it was supposed to be The Hubs and me, but we couldn’t find a place to board the dogs, so my daughter went with me instead. It was a whirlwind trip, but it was one that I’ll treasure forever. ABOUT 10 ON THE 10TH 10 on the 10th is hosted by Marsha at Marsha in the Middle. 10 on the 10th: June 2024
Hey, Friends! How’s it going? Things are going well over here. I spent the day prepping for a photography project for the coming week. Our college is co-hosting a manufacturing camp for high school students, and I’m taking pictures for the event. Normally, I simply take pictures for our college, but tomorrow, I’ll also be taking pictures for one of our community partners. The photographer who was originally scheduled to take pictures couldn’t make it, so I’m filling in for him. These assignments always excite me because it gives me an opportunity to stretch my photography muscles, but I also stress because I’m filling in for a photographer who has…

10 on the 10th: April 2024
Hey, y’all, hey! How are you doing? I’m doing well. I feel like I’m finally able to breathe. We’ve spent the last three years at my job preparing for this week {accreditation for our college} and, now, I’m just waiting for tomorrow when we get our debrief. When I say I was stressed out, y’all. I don’t think I’ve slept properly since I started my portion of the accreditation package. I was literally waking up in the middle of the night thinking of things I needed to add to the description of our library. For those who don’t know, I’m the library director at a local technical college. This has…
