Hey, y’all, hey! How are you doing? I’m doing well. Just trying to adjust to this topsy turvy weather. One day it’s in the seventies and the next it’s in the fifties. I cannot deal. I need stability. I need even temps. Warm temps. Hopefully, we’re on the upswing. Yes, I know it’s winter. But I’m gonna complain every time it rolls around. I’m consistent that way.

ABOUT 10 ON THE 10TH

10 on the 10th is hosted by Leslie at Once Upon a Time and Happily Ever After and Marsha at Marsha in the Middle. In the tradition of old school blogging, they’ll share a list of ten questions or prompts to help us get to know each other better. The linkup goes live on the tenth of the month.

THE PROMPT: Questions about love

  1. What was something you absolutely loved about 2021?
On 24 July 2021, The Hubs and I walked in to Pet Smart to pick up a few things for Bleu and ended up leaving with Lola. She’s a furry bundle of roly poly energy who has totally bulldozed her way into our lives.
  2. Do you have an interesting love story you’d like to share? Please do!
The Hubs and I were both stationed at Fort Polk, in Louisiana {about 45 minutes away from where we currently live — we’ve almost come full circle}. Anyway, I was in the personnel office, taking care of some business, you know, talking to a soldier {who also happened to be an ex}, when I felt someone staring at me. So I turned to look and I see this guy jab another guy and kind of point at me. I give him the you’re so rude look and then I turn back to the soldier to continue my business. Still. I feel the eyes. So I turn and look again. Then I get up, turn my chair so that my back is to the hall where the two guys were standing.
After I finish my work, the younger of the two guys walks over to me and said something along the lines of Sgt. Tucker wanted to ask me out. So I told him to tell Sgt. Tucker I said to “Come to me like a man and don’t send his boy to do his job.” Later, I found out that old boy was trying to do his boss a favor and feel me out.
The future hubs did eventually come over to my office and ask me for a date. I said yes and then proceeded to stand him up. If you’d like to read the rest of the story, click here.
  3. What food do you love and must have on a regular basis?
I absolutely love seafood. Not the stuff you get in restaurants but the kind you buy and cook at home. When I was a kid, my bio dad used to buy big ol’ containers of crabs and cook them with beer and Old Bay seasoning. We’d spread newspapers out on the table and eat them with loads of butter. I haven’t had them since I left his care when I was ten.
  4. What fashion “trend” do you love? It doesn’t have to be a current trend.
I’m a big fan of flare leg jeans with chunky soled shoes.
  5. Which season do you love most? Why is it your favorite?
Sweater weather. I have a big ol’ vintage wooden trunk full of sweaters. All kinds: pullovers, cardigans, sweater dresses, etc.
  6. If you could be with a loved one who has passed, who would it be and what would you do?
    No one.
  7. What would you love to accomplish in 2022?
I’d love to learn videography. I do the social media for our college and, while we have an abundance of still images, we don’t have a lot of videos.
  8. Which do you love most: shoes, handbags, belts, or coats?
It’s a toss up between shoes and handbags. I adore all things funky.
  9. What love remains with you today?
My faith. All though I stumble, fall, get up, trip, stagger, and sometimes sit on the side of the road, I know that He is with me.
  10. How do you show your love? What is your love language?
I’m not an overly demonstrative person, but I do love deeply. I honestly don’t know what my love language is. I’m appreciative of anything that anyone does for me.
