Where Bloggers Live: My Place of Work
I’m the director of library services at a community college in Louisiana. For the most part, I like what I do. I enjoy helping students and collaborating with the instructors. I’m an introvert, so I sometimes get overwhelmed with all of the peopling that I have to do. During those times, I usually go sit in my car to decompress. Or take walks around the campus. We recently moved into a new building and, y’all, it’s pretty impressive. Along with being the director of library services, I also handle the social media for the college, so I was able to get a front row seat to the construction. Watching the…

Hi, welcome to the first edition of Friday Favorites of 2020! Can you believe it? Not gonna lie, I’m still kind of gobsmacked. Last year flew by, but I’m not complaining. It was a hard year for my family. Usually I put together a post with plans for the coming year, but I decided against that this year.…

Where Bloggers Live: Christmas Decor
Hi and welcome to the Christmas edition of Where Bloggers Live! I’m happy you’ve joined me for a look around at my Christmas decorations. The Hubs and I went back and forth over whether or not we’d decorate this year. Since the kids moved out, I haven’t much felt like decorating. Well, that and the fact that I can’t find any of the decorations that I’d collected over the years. You see, every year, since my first daughter was born, I’d go to the store and find an ornament for her and write the year on it. As the other children came along, I did the same for them. Between…

I’ve spent all week at home in bed with some sort of weird virus. So far, I’ve been shot up with steroids twice, put on antibiotics, and given an inhaler. I’m so over whatever this is… Sweet Bleu has been the perfect nurse pup. She’s barely left my side since Monday…

Where Bloggers Live: My Community
The hand of a sweet woman who was showing me flowers that had fallen to the ground… Hi, welcome to my neighborhood… I’m so excited to show you around Alexandria, Louisiana. Specifically, this is a tour of the neighborhood where I work. We relocated to downtown Alexandria about 6 weeks ago and it has been pretty great. There were the usual concerns about moving to a new space: will there be enough parking? is the area safe? how will the influx of students impact local businesses? So far, we haven’t had any real problems, just a few hiccups that come with moving. The business community has been awesome. The…

Do you have anything planned for the weekend? We’re planning to visit my family in Mississippi. It’s been a few months since I’ve seen them and my mom had surgery a couple of weeks ago, so I need to check on her. And my nephews are itching to see me {I suspect they want…

This week just flew by… I spent the last few days in Baton Rouge at the LOUIS Users Conference {a conference for library consortia}. The sessions were so interesting and I can honestly say that I learned things that I can use in our library. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw my pictures from the…

Where Bloggers Live: My Home
Welcome to our home. Moving to Louisiana has been a bit of a homecoming for us. The Hubs and I met when we were stationed at Fort Polk, about 45 minutes away from where we live. You can read about our first date here. When we found out we were moving here, The Hubs and I wrote out a list of things we wanted in a home. We knew we wanted this to be our retirement home, so we wanted: one floor, open concept, little to no carpet, space for a coffee bar {I rejected a lot of homes because this was lacking}, enough room to park an RV and…

Seriously, I should just start calling this post “Saturday Loves” or something because I NEVER post this thing on Fridays. What is wrong with me? LOL 1. I’m loving this scent from Bath and Body Works. Usually, I go for more exotic scents but I was in the store, smelled this and immediately felt happy. It’s not a…

Did you have a good week? Mine was long… Our college went to New Orleans for a system conference; it was a lot of fun. I mean, it’s New Orleans, how can it be anything other than fun? My friend, Ree, took me to this place called Willa Jean for dessert and it was…
