My 5K Playlist: Musical Motivation
We’ve entered Week 4 of Run for God! And I’m so proud of the group of people I’m training with. You should see them out there in the rain, y’all running with focus and determination! They’re the embodiment of Hebrews 12:1, which states: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, There’ve been so many times when I’ve looked out my window and thought Surely, we are not going to run in this and then I get to the church, listen to…

Week in Review: Week 16
Good morning! One of the major things that I’ve learned from blogging and photography is that we need to document our lives. It may seem a little narcissistic and a tad bit crazy but think about all those moments you wish you’d captured… Not the big planned moments but the little ones that seemed insignificant at the time, those are the ones that make up our lives… So my challenge to you, my friends is to get your cameras (cell phones count) and take pictures for one day out of your life. You don’t have to share them, just keep them. And make sure that you’re in at least one…

Happy Fist Bump Friday!
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you know that I like to do a little something called “Fist Bump Friday”, where I encourage my friends to share something that made them happy during the week. Sometimes we get so bogged down with life and the crazy that comes with it that we forget to acknowledge the good things. So I thought it’d be fun if we all shared and celebrated together. This week I’m happy that The Hubs was home for a whole week. He was in pain much of this week. Thank you, Sinus Infection. But he was home. So please, share your good news in the…

In Defense of My Faith
A few years ago, I wrote a post about religious civility and the lack of respect that some people show towards people of faith, specifically towards Christians. The post was a reaction to some of the things that a few of my friends and acquaintances had posted over Easter weekend. I honestly hadn’t planned to address the issue again but after seeing the same recycled “jokes” this past weekend, I realized two things: The Bible says if I deny Jesus here on earth, He’ll deny me in Heaven {Matthew 10:33} The comments and jokes are hurtful and rude, and instead of letting it fester, I need to get it out…

Week in Review: Week 15
Just about every morning I post a picture of myself with a cup of coffee. I do this as a way of connecting with my friends and just starting my day off right. As much as I’d love to sit with each of you, share a cup of coffee, and enjoy a laugh, I know that’s not possible… So this is my way of making it happen. If you’re on Instagram or Facebook, please feel free to share a picture of yourself with your favorite beverage. Last Spring, these little guys were all over the library as part of a game being played by students. I thought it was creative…

Happy Resurrection Sunday!
Matthew: 28:6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Jesus offered himself up as a sacrifice for my sins. But the redemption wasn’t in the crucifixion, it was in the resurrection. Jesus stated that he would die but that he would be raised up from the dead three days later. This is the foundation of our faith. Even though there are days when I stumble, I walk in the knowledge that Jesus is the risen savior. And my confidence, my life, is in his hands. Thank you, Lord, for loving me so much that you took the punishment…

Happy Fist Bump Friday: Run for God, Week 1
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you know that I like to do a little something called “Fist Bump Friday”, where I encourage my friends to share something that made them happy during the week. Sometimes we get so bogged down with life and the crazy that comes with it that we forget to acknowledge the good things. So I thought it’d be fun if we all shared and celebrated together. This week I’m happy that Miss 17 and I completed Week 1 of Run for God, a 5K training program with a Jesus focused theme. We’re all kinds of excited about crossing that finish line in 12…

Walking on Tucker Blvd
When I was a little girl, the one thing I wanted more than anything was one of those personalized license plates that I saw in stores. Actually, I wanted anything that was personalized but that was never gonna happen. My name is Daenel. Not a very common name. So now whenever I see some variation of my name, I have to take a picture. When you were a kid, did your parents buy personalized items for you? Or do you have an, ahem, creative name too?

Weekend in Review: Week 14
Hi! How was your weekend? Mine was long and emotionally exhausting. My twins are seniors this year, so I’ve been trying to adjust to the idea of them not being home anymore. So very difficult. The Hubs, The Boy, and I spent a couple of days at Missouri S&T, where The Boy will be an engineering major in the Fall. I’m so not ready. I know I should be celebrating the fact that our jobs as parents have resulted in two young adults who’re ready to take on the world, but all I keep seeing are my babies. Leaving home. OK. Enough. My favorite coffee picture from last week. The…

Find the Beauty in the Brown
Every day as I stare out my kitchen window, this is my view. Brown withered leaves, crunchy flower pods, splintered stems… Dead plants. sigh Yesterday, as I stood there preparing dinner, mentally complaining about the lack of life and color in my front yard, I started thinking about the things that are going on within me. And I realized, my problem isn’t external, it’s internal. I’ve always been a creative person. And every job I’ve ever had has had an outlet for that creativity: when I was in the Army, I got to assist with meal planning {Have you ever planned a Thanksgiving meal for roughly 300 soldiers at a remote location?…
