Weekend in Review: Week 13
Are we all agreed that we need a day between Sunday and Monday? It really feels like the weekend goes by too quickly… Did you notice that I changed the title of this post? Well, I noticed it’s less about selfies and more about documenting my weekend and sharing the memories. I’ll be the first to admit that my life isn’t glamorous, nor is it always fun and exciting, but it’s my life and I truly believe nothing is ordinary… My favorite coffee picture of the week. I’m not sure why, but sometimes The Boy likes to stick his thumb on my forehead. This was one of those moments. The…

Sloan + Themis: Vintage and Repurposed Jewelry
Sometimes my real and online worlds collide and it’s a fabulous thing. That’s what happened last Saturday. My worlds collided and it was all kinds of cool… On Saturdays, The Hubs and I have a routine that involves breakfast, running errands, and wandering the streets of downtown Cape Girardeau. We love walking along the water front and roaming through the historic district. It’s a beautiful area, full of quaint little antique stores, restaurants, and galleries. That’s one of the things I absolutely adore about this area, there’s a vibrant local community of folks who’re really interested in restoring, developing, and maintaining the history of this area and reaching out to new…

Run for God Cape Girardeau: 5K
Every time I look at this picture I’m struck by two thoughts: I crossed the finished line! My girls were right, I need to work on my runner’s face I remember that day so well… I was incredibly nervous as I made my way to the starting line. Part of me wanted to throw up run back to the car and tell The Hubs to get me out of there as fast as he could. Who was I that I thought I could get out there with all of those runners? They were real athletes, I just played one on my blog. I was an imposter. A poser. A fake.…

2014 Daily Selfie: Week 12
Happy Monday, y’all. How was your weekend? Mine was pretty nice. The Hubs and I did our usual weekend thing: breakfast and window shopping {which led to me meeting an online acquaintance face to face, more about that later this week}, laundry doing, and family time with The Walking Dead. I also caught up on some blog reading, online game playing, and laughs with my sister. Overall, a weekend well spent. And here are some pictorial highlights from last week: All that’s left of my birthday flowers are the dried heads. Kinda morbid but romantic, right? My family room is BORING. As in there’s nothing down there but a sofa,…

Happy Fist Bump Friday: Spring is Here
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you know that I like to do a little something called “Fist Bump Friday”, where I encourage my friends to share something that made them happy during the week. Sometimes we get so bogged down with life and the crazy that comes with it that we forget to acknowledge the good things. So I thought it’d be fun if we all shared and celebrated together. This week I’m happy that Spring is finally here. I know that doesn’t mean that it automatically gets warmer, but it brings hope. I’m also happy for a day off from work that’ll be spent hanging with…

5 Ridiculously Easy Steps to Update Your Facebook Cover for Spring
Raise your hand if you’re ready for Spring. taking note of all the hands waving wildly in the air. I see you back there, jumping up and down wildly. Trust me, I’m right there with you. All of this snow and ice and cold weather has me kicking rocks, y’all. But rather than continue to risk injury, I decided to do something constructive: a digital spruce up. And I did it using quite possibly the easiest photo editor in all of the Internet: PicMonkey. Seriously, if you haven’t tried it, you need to get on it now. Shameless PicMonkey shoutout: many of the cool tools are free but it’s so…

2014 Daily Selfie: Week 11 {In the Dark Room}
Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was nice. Spent some time with the family, which is always a blessing. I love it when we can all get together for meals, especially now that those times are few and far between. We’re missing Mrs. 27 and her family but someday… I complained about the snow. Yes, more snow and ice. After a day of near 70º temperatures. And, of course, I enjoyed copious amounts of coffee. Here are some pictures from last week: The hubs had flowers delivered to my office last week for our anniversary; this rose was such an unusual color that it instantly became my favorite. I’ve…

Fist Bump Friday: Family Win {In the Cafe}
This week I’m happy that the hubs is coming home from his latest trip. I’m happy that the boy was awarded several scholarships for college next year. And I’m happy that girls went grocery shopping with me…

Happy Anniversary: How I Met My Husband {In the Family Room}
Today, the hubs and I are celebrating 19 years of marriage, so I thought it’d be fun to share the story of how I met my husband… The year was 1994, and I was a sweet, innocent little soldier stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, about to celebrate my 2nd year in the Army. This is my story, I can tell it any way that I like, just rest assured that what I’m telling you is the whole truth. Anyway, I was sitting in the personnel office updating some paperwork, when I see these two guys in a separate part of the office looking at me. I acknowledged them and kept…
