ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Welcome to Style Imitating Art. Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Terri {Meadow Tree Style}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits with the curator by 10 PM Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

THE CURATOR

This week’s work of art was chosen by Terri.

INSPIRATION ART WORK

Terri chose this image because she thought: “After the last two with their intense color and texture… it was time to pick something calming…”

MY OUTFIT

I promise I don’t only wear Kantha Bae pieces. I have other stuff in my closet. Buuuuut I’m so loving these pieces right now and I. just. can’t. stop. wearing. them.

You’ve actually seen this piece before. It’s the reverse side of this serape. That’s the thing about these piece, they’re reversible and there isn’t a bad side.

When I started planning my outfit for this week’s challenge, I’d originally planned to share this outfit, but I forgot to take pictures while I was dressed. Good thing I take those coffee pictures every morning or I wouldn’t have proof that there was a non-Kantha Bae outfit originally planned.

The colors, the pattern, everything makes me think of the inspiration piece.

WHERE DID I WEAR IT

Here’s a little secret about my crop top: it was originally a parero. I tacked the bottom together to form a crop top because I like it better as a top than as a poncho.

LAST THOUGHTS

I’m not a seamstress but you can always alter clothes to fit your preference. A little stitching. A check of the reverse side. It’s all up for grabs.
