Hi, I know it’s been awhile since I’ve updated the blog, but life has been lifin’, y’all. I’m not complaining, though, because I like the busy work. It keeps me from doom scrolling and stressing. I’ve also been reading some really good books. I recently finished My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney and, omg! If you’re a Frieda McFadden fan, I can almost guarantee that you’ll enjoy Alice Feeney. I had to sit a moment and absorb what I’d just read when I finished My Husband’s Wife, the ending was totally unexpected. I also just finished binge watching Bridgerton and am taking my time with Paradise, both of which I highly recommend.
WHAT I WORE
I can’t remember when I discovered Zuri, but I’m so happy that I did. This is the first dress that I added to my collection, and the reason? Because it makes me think of my favorite cultural and historical era, the Harlem Renaissance. You can learn more about my obsession with the Harlem Renaissance by clicking here. Every time I wear this dress I feel like I should start dancing the Charleston.
On this day, I opted to wear a blazer over my dress because I’m a big believer in the “third piece,” or, in this case, the “second piece.” I just need that over piece to make me feel a little more secure in my clothing. In fact, you’ve seen this dress on the blog before, except then I paired it with a denim jacket. Either way, this dress just works for everything. It’s comfortable and makes me feel all artsy without being over the top.
I also like that this dress is from a woman-owned company that believes in sustainability, and creating opportunities for women to support themselves and their families.
Side note: how fun is this pin? It’s a nice reminder that there is no standard look for librarians.
WHERE I WORE IT
I wore this outfit to work. We had one of our community partners on campus and I was taking pictures, so I needed to be comfortable and cute. LOL
