The Bible in 365 Days: Day 3 {In the Church}
Scripture Genesis 3:21 And the LORD God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife. Observation The making of the clothing from animal skins was the first sacrifice, a foreshadowing of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for our sins. As a result of Adam’s and Eve’s disobedience, the just punishment should’ve been death but God showed mercy instead. Application God’s love and mercy is present even when we are willfully disobedient. This is not because we’re deserving of any special favors but because God loves us so much that He’s willing to give us a second {or third or fourth or fifth} chance. Prayer Dear…

The Bible in 365 Days: Day 2 {In the Church}
Scripture Genesis 2:18 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Observation Every time God finished creating something new, he looked at it and said it was good, meaning that the purpose it was intended to serve had been fulfilled. The sun and moon created light and day, the waters watered the earth to feed and nourish the plants and livestock, etc. The only creation that, upon completion, did not receive the seal of approval was the creation of man. Man, by himself, was incomplete. Man’s purpose was to tend the Garden of Eden…

The Bible in 365 Days: Day 1 {In the Church}
Scripture Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Observation God was very deliberate throughout the creation of the Heavens and the Earth. So it stands to reason that when He created man and woman, He was even more purposeful. Especially when I read that man and woman were created in the image of God. This means that there are no accidents, no mistakes…our creation was a very deliberate act. Application Last year, the opportunity for a promotion at work came up and I debated whether or not I should apply for it. It…

Happy New Year and 2014 Plans {In the Closet}
Happy New Year! Do you have big plans for 2014? I don’t have any resolutions. I have a hard time with those because I never follow through with them. I do have a few goals for this year: Read the Bible in a Year ~ I read the Bible in 90 days a few years ago and enjoyed it. I think it’s time to do it again but on a less intense level. Sign on for One Word 2014 ~ last year’s word was “Life”… I’m still not sure what this year’s word will be but I’m sure God will reveal it in His time. Learn to use my Nikon…

My Favorite Moments from 2013 {In the Cafe}
So, here it is, the last day of 2013. This is all kinds of crazy. I mean, I know time passes but, gosh, doesn’t it seem like the older you get the more quickly time passes? I wonder why that is… While sitting here watching The Twilight Zone marathon {an annual tradition in my home}, I started reflecting on the past year and thought, why not share some of my favorite moments with you all? Some are blog posts, some are pictures from Instagram, Pinterest, or Flickr, and others are things that happened on Facebook. But before I get started, I do want to thank you all for sharing your lives with…

100 Things: Part VII {About Me}
Soooo, today is the last Monday in 2013. How crazy is that? Very, right? Usually, I like to take the last week off from blogging so I can spend time with my family and recharge the creative battery but I didn’t do a very good job of timing my “100 Things” posts, and I don’t want to go into the New Year with unfinished business so… Here we go, a total wrap up in one final post. 61. My favorite food is seafood. Specifically, crabs. 62. I check my email obsessively. Even though I rarely get anything important. 63. I don’t set resolutions because I always break them, so I…

Christmas Decor 2013 {In the Cafe}
For the past few weeks my family and I have hemmed and hawed over whether or not we were going to decorate for Christmas this year. The girls and I were saddened by the loss of nearly 20 years worth of ornaments and decorations. You see, each year, while the kids were sleeping, I’d go to different stores and search for ornaments for each of them. Something that represented them: their interests, their personality, something funny that’d happened during the year. Then I’d take a marker and put their name and year on the bottom of the ornament. My hope, my dream, was that each kid would take their box…

100 Things: Part VI {About Me}
51. I had seizures as a child. In fact, my last one was so bad the doctor told my mother he wasn’t sure I’d ever regain my memory. Can you imagine being told your child may never know who you are? 52. I have an incredibly bad temper and it takes a lot for me to keep it in check. 53. I knew my twin sister was pregnant before she did. Both times. The first one took us both by surprise, but the last two? I was dead on. I also gave her totally different due dates than her doctors. I was right. Both times. 54. People say I wear my…

Fist Bump Friday: Being Helpful {In the Cafe}
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you know that I like to do a little something called “Fist Bump Friday”, where I encourage my friends to share something that has made them happy during the week. Sometimes we get so bogged down with life and the crazy that comes with it that we forget to recognize the good things. So I thought it’d be fun if we all shared and celebrated together. So please, share your good news in the comments below. Remember, it doesn’t have to be big or earth shattering. If it’s important to you, it’s important to me. This week, I’m happy that I was…
