eRace Racism Challenge and Run Stats Update
After 8 days of the eRace Racism Challenge, my team is 11 miles ahead of pace! How crazy cool is that? We’ve knocked out 19 of our 50 mile goal and have 31 miles left to go. I’m so proud of us! When I first signed up for the challenge, I didn’t I’d be able to hit my goal, much less be ahead of pace. I mean, seriously. I think part of what’s pushing me forward is not wanting to disappoint my teammate. Yes, I was the one who overworked on team projects in school because I didn’t want anyone to think I was slacking. How are you doing with…

eRace Racism Challenge and Run Stats Update
Today is the first day of the eRace Racism Challenge. eRace Racism is hosted by Black Girls Run in conjunction with This is how Black Girls Run describes it: Join us to show the world that we run together against discrimination, prejudice and racism. We run for real change and that starts with one sister at a time reaching across the race lines. Running is our vehicle and connection is our super power. I found the challenge on Instagram and immediately signed up. When you register, you and your team mate have the option of walking, running, or hiking for 50, 100, or 200 miles. You can run anywhere in the…

Where Bloggers Live: My Vacations
Hi, and welcome to the next installment of Where Bloggers Live. I hope you’ve had as much fun reading these posts as I have writing them. At first, I was just like, yeah, that’ll be fun, but these posts have made me stop and think about my life, my community, the things I hold dear… Or maybe I’m just getting all hazy from being inside the house for months on end. Who knows? This month’s theme is “Vacation.” I wasn’t sure how I was gonna handle this because we haven’t been on vacation in months. Unless you count going to the grocery store, because, honestly, I do get dressed up…

Happy Gotcha Day!
Y’all, I can’t believe Bleu has been with us for a year now. I have to give a big ol’ shout out to The Hubs for, once again, knowing what I needed before I did. Cheers, LET’S CONNECT

On the Road Again
As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support. Remember when I started running a few months ago? Well, I stopped. Not for any real reason. Actually, I think it may have rained and then the next day I ate pizza or ice cream or something and that was that. Anyway, I picked up the habit again. I needed to because this COVID-19 thing has got a…

Where Bloggers Live: My Kitchen
Hi, and welcome to my kitchen. Unlike most of our homes, this kitchen is not the hang out space. Not because we dislike it but because it really is just about the function. We cook in here, grab our drinks, then sit at the breakfast table {or on the sofa, if we’re particularly invested in a TV show}. MY KITCHEN When we first looked at this home to buy it, I told The Hubs that the kitchen was way too small. He pointed out that I was no longer cooking for six. The kitchen, it turns out, is just the right size. In our other homes, the accent color in…

This Has to End
This post has been edited for clarity of thought, but the original message and intent remains. This has been a tough month and, honestly, I haven’t had the heart, intestinal fortitude, emotional strength, or desire to write anything. All of the words that I would share, all of the feelings I would express, everything has already been put out there. If you’re unsure about how I feel about the televised execution of another Black man or the senseless murder of a Black woman sleeping in her bed, feel free to check out my Facebook page or my Twitter feed. And if you have a differing opinion, my words aren’t going…

Where Bloggers Live: My Outdoor Space
Hi, and welcome to my space. The Hubs and I have lived here about two years now and I’m just now starting to appreciate having an outdoor living space. No, scratch that, being quarantined has made me appreciate having an outdoor living space. We’ve been confined to our house since the middle of March, so the front porch has become our connection to life outside of our house. MY OUTDOOR SPACE Our front porch doesn’t really look out on to much… Just the road through our neighborhood and our neighbor’s house. There are a few squirrels that like to play chase in our trees, for the most part, though, our…
