Coffee Talk {Living Outside the Stacks}Hi, and welcome to Coffee Talk. In case you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

So grab a cup of coffee {or tea or whatever floats your boat} and let’s talk…

1. Why? Why? Why is there a show on TV called “Paternity Court”? If you are unsure of the paternity of your child, why on Earth would you go on national TV to find out? Why not take care of that at home and try to maintain the dignity and respect of your child, if you have none for yourself? And while I’m talking about this… People, when you’re responding to a question, do not keep saying: “Know what I’m saying?” No, I don’t know what you’re saying. Stop. Think. Now speak. That advice is also for people who use “Like” when speaking.

2. Conrad Murray was released from prison this morning. Y’all remember him, right? He’s the doctor who went to jail for killing Michael Jackson. Some people are upset because he only served 2 years of his 4 year sentence. I don’t really have a problem with this. I think Michael Jackson is just as responsible for his death as Murray is. What I do have a problem with is the possibility of Murray getting his medical license reinstated. This is a man who broke his oath to do no harm; he should never be put in a position where he can use his medical know~how to hurt or kill another person.

3. My family and I are serious fans of The Walking Dead. As in we all gather in the family room to watch the show together. We come up with different scenarios, we question the possibility and freakiness of zombie babies, and, of course, we talk about what we’d do to survive. The editors at Bon Appétit have taken this discussion to a fun new level with “10 Foods We’re Stockpiling for a {Zombie} Apocalypse“. So I started thinking, what would I want to hoard? Coffee, naturally. Water, is a given. And, finally, beans. Beans can keep and they are high in fiber and protein.

What would you stockpile?
