Day 16: Songs that Make Me Want to Cry
I actually have two songs that can bring me to tears at the drop of a hat: Troubles of this World and Here I am to Worship. Troubles of this World, sung by Mahalia Jackson during the funeral scene in my favorite movie, Imitation of Life. It was also my father’s favorite song and was played during his funeral. How I Became a Librarian
The other day I read a post on Bobbi’s blog, Librarian By Day, about a potential MLIS student who was looking for advice on whether or not she should go to library school and it got me to thinking about why I became a librarian and whether or not I’d recommend this as a career choice for, say, one of my kids. Day 15: My Dream House
My dream house is the house that I’m living in right now. My husband and I lived with my mother~in~law for 6 and half years before we found the right house for our family. That may seem like we were incredibly picky but we weren’t ~ we have four kids who live at home and we just needed space. Day 12: Something I’m OCD About
Ha! This is an easy one. I’m hyper~organized. I used to be in the Army and one of the first things they drilled into my head was organization ~ socks, tees, undies, they all had to be folded/rolled up so they were the same length as a dollar bill. I remember taping my things to the bottom of my drawer so they wouldn’t roll around when the drawer closed and using toilet paper roll inserts to keep my tees smooth. Do you remember that episode of “King of Queens” when Carrie and Doug lose Deacon and Kelly to another couple who has kids so they spend the entire episode trying to find a replacement couple? I’m Back, Sort Of
I don’t know what happened but I caught something that totally kicked my butt. Giving my kids and these college students the side~eye ’cause I know whatever funky little virus I picked up had to have come from these walking talking petri dishes. Thursday evening, I left work and I felt fine. Day 8: A Photo that Makes Me Sad
My dad died unexpectedly a few years ago and, unfortunately, this was the last picture that the four of us ever took together. My parents divorced when we were young and, after living with my dad for about a year, I moved with my mom, sisters and stepfather to Italy and didn’t see my dad again until I was an adult. My dad was an incredible artist and musician who never failed to make me laugh. I miss and love him dearly.

From Stepmother to Friend, It Can Happen
This afternoon as I was driving to work, I started scanning the radio for something to listen to.
