It’s Over…For a Couple of Weeks Anyway
Last night was my last class of the semester. Oh, wait, you may not know this but in my other life I teach American History at one of the local Universities. The classes are 7 weeks long and meet once a week for 4 hours. Yes, I said 4 hours! I also teach traditional classes but I think by far my favorite has to be the 7 week session. Generally, my students are Nursing or Physical Therapy majors who are taking the class during the short session because they use the longer sessions for labs and such. At the beginning of the semester, I usually have the students go around…

Product Review and Giveaway: Olay Total Effects Body Wash (Closed)
I’ll be celebrating my birthday in a week and I’m not thrilled because it puts me three years closer to the big 4~0. Yes, I’m already agonizing over that birthday. In fact, I’m fighting the aging process every step of the way and with everything that I can possibly muster. Well, you know, everything except going under the knife. As I’ve gotten older (and had to start scrolling through the decades to find my birth year on those danged survey forms), I’ve noticed little things starting to change ~ fine lines around the eyes and mouth, dry skin on the arms and legs, limited elasticity, ok, I can’t go on….…

The View Blab Fest
Today I woke up with such a massive headache that I didn’t think I’d get to watch The View. But I did it. Sometimes I can be such a trooper. Anyway, it was worth watching through one squinty eye so that I could keep up a running commentary with The View Brand Ambassadors on Twitter. Anyway, you know how it goes, grab a cup of coffee (100% Columbian Coffee, if you please) and let’s talk… Hot Topics Naomi Campbell She’s been hitting folks again. Are any of us surprised? This time it was her driver, who suffered a busted eye from being hit in the back of the head, yet…

Sweepstakes: What’s Behind the World’s Best Coffees?
My day begins at 5:30 AM and usually ends sometime around midnight. So how do I function? With copious amounts of coffee, of course. If I could have coffee fed to me through an IV, my life would be complete. Ok, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration but not by much. Over the years, I’ve had fun experimenting with coffees from different parts of the world but I can honestly say, some of my favorite coffees carry the 100% Columbian Coffee logo. Although you may not know the words, you know the logo ~ Juan Valdez and Conchita, his donkey. These two have come to symbolize the values that the organization…

The View Blab Fest
So the ladies walked onto the set to some incredibly regal sounding music, which I, of course commented on…. Um, I guess if I had watched more of the Olympics I would have known that it was the Canadian National Anthem. Doh! My genius was showing. My wrap~up today is incredibly brief. Why? Because Dish Network and the weather have conspired against me in a tag team match. Last week the show was cut short because of the “snurricane” and today the show was cut short because the satellite went out. *sigh* Hot Topics The Olympics I’m proud of our country and all of the athletes who competed in the…

Book Review: The Gospel According to Lost by Chris Seay
To say that Lost is a phenomenon would be an understatement. Over the last 6 seasons, I’ve watched and listened as viewers have followed the trials of their favorite island castaways and with the final season just beginning, it seemed appropriate for me to review The Gospel According to Lost by Chris Seay. As many viewers are aware, Lost is more than a story about a group of people who get stranded on an island, it’s a multi~layered story that explores fate, reason, faith, guilt, salvation and a host of other philosophical and religious tenents. And it’s within this framework that Seay seeks to explore the relationship between the television…

The View Blab Fest
At 11 AM EST it’s coffee and chat time at my house ’cause that’s when I flip the channel to The View and get ready to start laughing and yelling. Thanks to the “snurricane”, the first 5 minutes of the show were preempted by a weather update (um, thank you, Mother Nature, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t cause problems during The View again). Fortunately, the show came in just in time for me to catch the tail end of the following conversation… Hot Topics Sherri Broke the Dress Code Ok, so Sherri admitted to reaching into a dressing room and foisting someone’s dress for an awards banquet because the…

The View Blab Fest
Today’s episode of The View was dedicated to the topic of infertility. Now I have to admit, I have never had any issues with infertility. I’m the mother of 5 beautiful children, so I cannot imagine the heartbreak that comes with trying to have a baby. I have had a miscarriage and I imagine that feeling of loss is duplicated monthly for those who are trying to conceive. So my heart, thoughts and prayers go out to all of you who are dealing with this problem. I pray that you find peace, strength and love in whatever decisions you have to make about your situation. Listening to Sherri and the…

The View Blab Fest
I grabbed my coffee, sat back and watched The View. As usual, the ladies had me feeling a little manic with the yelling and laughing but, omg, it’s so nice to be able to share my enthusiasm with you and my fellow fans on twitter. Otherwise, I’d be sitting here going crazy. Hot Topics The Backup Plan The ladies talked about the cast of the Jersey Shore and how they need to have a backup plan for when their 15 minutes of fame are up. I think this goes without saying and if they have good people in their corner they are setting aside some of their earnings for the…

Book Review: Broken Angel by Sigmund Brouwer
Broken Angel is set in the future where the United States has been divided in 2: the United States, a secular nation, and Appalachia, a land run by religious fundamentalists. In Appalachia, reading is a crime, citizens are drugged and those who break the laws are sent to slave labor camps. At the center of the novel is Caitlyn, a deformed young woman, who is being pursued by bounty hunters, who want her dead or alive. The reason for the pursuit is left unknown to both Caitlyn and the reader until the end of the novel, which adds to the suspense. Along the way, Caitlyn meets two traveling companions who…
