    Pattern Mixing with Pixie Pants

    8 April 2015 / 5 Comments

I’m so ready for the remote for my camera to arrive! Seriously, do you know how hard it is to set the timer, run, and pray the focus is still set? I know it’s possible {back focus, I think it’s called} but I’m so not that skilled. So, for now, it’s slightly blurry pictures and wind blown hair. This cardi has been sitting in my drawer for~ever. When I saw it on TV {HSN}, I swooned. Sparkles! Bright colors! Floral print! But it was way beyond what I wanted to pay for a cardigan. I waited patiently for it to go on sale and then I scooped it up. Only…

    Maxed Out

    1 April 2015 / 12 Comments

If you’ll remember, last week I wrote about how my daughter said that my style can best be described as Mori Kei and I said “Sometimes.” Well, this is why. In my heart of hearts, I’m a hippie. I remember telling my mom that I was born in the wrong decade, she totally should have had me earlier. I wore this outfit to work and, honest to goodness, I kept waiting for a student to shush me because of all the jingling. For those of you who don’t know, I’m librarian. Obviously, I don’t work on the quiet floor. I love bracelets, in fact, they’re probably the only pieces of…

Book Review: War Brides by Helen Bryan

    4 February 2015 / 0 Comments

BOOK DESCRIPTION {FROM THE BACK OF THE BOOK} With war threatening to spread from Europe to England, the sleepy village of Crowmarsh Priors settles into a new sort of normal: Evacuees from London are billeted in local homes. Nightly air raids become grimly mundane. The tightening vice of rationing curtails every comfort. Men leave to fight and die. And five women forge an unlikely bond of friendship that will change their lives forever. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Helen Bryan was born in Virginia, grew up in Tennessee, and is a longtime resident of London. A former barrister, she is the author of an award-winning biography of Martha Washington. She was inspired…

    Go and Speak without Fear

    21 October 2014 / 0 Comments

God does not send us out unequipped. He prepares us and protects us {that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy, that just means that The Word will be heard}, so we need to surrender our hearts and our lives to Him. No excuses.

    Blogtober: My Favorite Perfume/Scent

    14 October 2014 / 3 Comments

I’m a librarian and work around people with varying degrees of scent sensitivities, so I don’t wear perfume on a daily basis. I also have sensitive skin, so I have to be careful what I use and how often I use it. One of the few perfume lines that I can use without too much of an issue is Philosophy. I like the line but sometimes the scents can be a bit too, um, precious for me. I lean towards the darker more exotic smells like red plum, passion fruit, patchouli oil, blood orange, sandalwood, and black orchid. And leather. Don’t get me started on the smell of leather. I…

    Color Burst

    30 July 2014 / 4 Comments

Well, hello there! I hope your week has been fabulous so far. Mine has been great. I’m two days in to a seven day running streak, so yay! My muscles are sore but my mind and spirit are clear. And can you see the muscle definition forming in the front of my legs? I’ve always thought I somewhat resembled Sponge Bob Square Pants. giggle So today I’m all about color and pattern. My theory on color is if you see it together in nature, you can wear it on your body. Really, isn’t God the ultimate designer? You are familiar with His work, right? Stunning! As for pattern mixing,…

    Visit Cape Instagram Takeover

    11 June 2014 / 2 Comments

You guys, I’ve been almost at the bursting point with excitement for the last few weeks and now I’m finally able to share… I’ve been invited by the Cape Girardeau Visitor’s Bureau to participate in an Instagram Takeover!  An Instagram Takeover is basically where I sign in to Instagram as @visitcape and post pictures from their account for a designated period of time. How cool is that? Since moving to Southeast Missouri, The Hubs and I have been totally enamored of the area. We enjoying strolling down the River Walk, window shopping at the various antique stores, and sitting along the mighty Mississippi River with coffee in hand… I’d been tagging my Instagram pictures…
