    December Photo A Day {Instagram}

    Happy Saturday! Do you have plans for this weekend? Today, the hubs and I are hosting a few couples from our church for breakfast. Eep I’ve never done anything like this before, so I’m pretty nervous. We’ll be serving scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, French Toast, fried apples, and assorted juices. The men will be having a whatever it is that men do when they get together meeting while the ladies will be having an ornament exchange. I find this more than slightly amusing sense I’m not putting up a tree this year. Long story short, the kids decided they don’t want to decorate this year. Grinches. And decorating really isn’t…

    Love {Advent Bible Study}

    The focus of this week’s Advent study is LOVE. Love means to have a strong affection for anther arising out of kinship or personal ties. It also means to have an unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another. SCRIPTURE 1 John 4:7 {KJV} Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. OBSERVATION When I first looked up “Love” in the Webster’s Dictionary, the first entry was for maternal love, the second for romantic love and a bit further down, the love God has for mankind. This struck me as wrong. I know…

    November Photo A Day {Instagram}

    cue the cheering crowds I did it! I did it! I took 30 photos for 30 days. I cannot believe I did it. Some of the photos have been less inspired than others but, you know what, it’s my life and I thank God for each and every day of it. Day 25: sky This is the view from my living room window, it never gets old. God is awesome. Day 26: in the cupboard One of my favorite dollar store finds, a coffee mug. Day 27: tree The Christmas tree in the library, decorated with book jackets. Creative, no? Day 28: vehicle My big and obnoxious baby. For the…

    Hope {Advent Bible Study}

    The focus of this week’s Advent study is HOPE. Hope means to anticipate or expect with confidence. SCRIPTURE Jeremiah 33:15 In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land. OBSERVATION God promises His people that after their captivity has ended a righteous descendant from King David’s line will be born. The fulfillment of this promise is the birth of Jesus Christ, who is just and righteous. APPLICATION When I read this passage, I think of a new bud on a tree branch and all the promise that it holds. It represents new…

    Hope {Advent Bible Study}

    The focus of this week’s Advent study is HOPE. Hope means to anticipate or expect with confidence. SCRIPTURE John 1:12 {KJV} But as many as received him, to them gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: OBSERVATION There are many who reject Jesus and His claims, but there are also many who believe His claims. And it is those who believe in Him, who will inherit the kingdom of God as His children. APPLICATION The gift of life is free to those who simply choose to accept that God in His mercy and grace looked down upon this world in all of…

    Hope {Advent Bible Study}

    The focus of this week’s Advent study is HOPE. Hope means to anticipate or expect with confidence. SCRIPTURE John 1:4 {KJV} In him was life; and the life was the light of men. OBSERVATION Jesus is life and light; without Him, there is only death and darkness. APPLICATION I’m a news junkie. I watch the news pretty much from the minute I wake up until I go to bed. When I’m at work, I have the radio set to a news channel or talk radio. I like knowing what’s going on in the world around me. One day, while watching another one of my news programs, the hubs turned to…

    Preparing for Christmas {Advent Bible Study}

    Last week, I briefly talked about how God has been dealing with me about the ways I’ve been using social media for His glory. Specifically, the fact that I haven’t been. I’ve been using my spaces on the web to talk about style, food, photography and all sorts of other things… There’s nothing wrong with that, I believe that God wants us to have fun, but I don’t want that to be all there is to me. I firmly believe that I’m living at this time and place for a reason. God has a purpose for me. So I know it was nothing but God that lead me to an…

    November Photo A Day {Instagram}

    Time for another week in review, Instagram style. I’m so enjoying this Photo A Day Challenge, it’s fun to look back over the week and see all that’s happened. The prompts may seem random but it really requires a bit of creativity to capture memories… Day 18: happened this weekend The hubs made dinner for us: Hamburger Helper for himself and the kids and big ol’ hamburgers for me. This made me incredibly happy. Day 19: something awesome Can I get a “What? What?” The hubs made dinner two nights in a row! Pork steaks, rice and stuffing (he’s not much of a veggie man). Day 20: work/play Even with…

    Things That Leave Me Scratchin’ My Head {Coffee Talk}

    I hope everyone had a beautiful Thanksgiving. We hosted my parents, my twin sister and her family at our home this year. The dinner was incredible, if I don’t say so myself. I was pretty proud of myself. But we did learn something… I either need a bigger oven or a double oven. It was really hard to get everything cooked and kept warm with only one oven. Just typing that makes me grateful for the silly First World problems that I face on a daily basis, because I know there are people who have it worse. I’m also grateful for the cray cray that enables me to do these…

    November Photo A Day {Instagram}

    It’s a beautiful Saturday morning, and I’m sitting here watching a documentary about Abraham Lincoln. He’s such an interesting character. I’d really like to go see the movie that’s come out but I know that’s one I’d have to see alone. If I asked the hubs to go, he’d say: “That’s not my thing.” Sometimes I like that our tastes are so different; other times, not so much. This week I finished reading Reach: How to Use Your Social Media Influence for the Glory of God an ebook by @laurakrokos and @angipratt. I can’t remember exactly how I stumbled across the book, but I’m glad I did. For a while,…
