    Banana Bread with Cranberry Trail Mix Crust {On the Table}

    15 November 2012 / 2 Comments

    My kids love bananas. In fact, they love them so much that bananas rarely last long enough for me to make banana bread. So on those rare occasions when the bananas do start to get overly ripe, I jump at the chance to put some bread in the oven. Only this time I didn’t have any baking soda or baking powder… What to do? What to do? How about use what you have on hand? So, here you go, Banana Bread using self~rising flour…   What Ya Need 6 Very Ripe Bananas, mashed 3 cups Self~Rising Flour 4 Eggs 1 Stick of Butter 2 tsp Vanilla 2 cups Sugar 1 cup…

    November Photo A Day {Instagram}

    12 November 2012 / 4 Comments

    It’s a lazy Sunday afternoon and I’m sitting here reviewing last week’s pictures from Fat Mum Slim’s Photo A Day Challenge. My inner critic is wishing that I’d been a bit more creative with the prompts but the quitter in me is celebrating the fact that I have 10 pictures posted. one of my favorite mugs from Earth and Wears what’s more colorful than shelves of books in a library? breakfast date with the hubs yes, our TV is hanging on the wall above the stairs kickin’ back in the recliner right now I’m totally diggin’ my boots from Sebago view of my kitchen in the hall mirror I drink…

    The Wedding {Photography}

    10 November 2012 / 4 Comments

    A few weeks ago, the hubs and I attended the wedding of a couple from our church. While there, they asked if I could take a couple of pictures for them. Naturally, I said yes and silently thanked God for having me grab my camera on the way out the door. This is the first time I’ve ever taken wedding pictures but I’m happy with the way they came out. But, more importantly, so are the newly weds.  Adjusting the Veil Candid shot of the bride having her veil adjusted by one of her bridesmaids. The Beautiful Bride A candid shot of the bride looking in the mirror. Congratulations to…

    Things that Leave Me Scratchin’ My Head {Coffee Talk}

    9 November 2012 / 0 Comments

    1. Pregnancy tests aren’t just for solving those “Am I or aren’t I” riddles anymore. Apparently, pregnancy tests can diagnose testicular cancer. I know, right? How in the world do we know this? Well, some guy decided to take a pregnancy test as a joke and the dang thing came back positive! After posting the test online, some folks told old boy that he needed to go to the doctor’s and get checked out. Turns out he had a small testicular tumor. Duuude… You can look up all the medical jargon on your own but the quick story is that pregnancy tests detect the amount of the hormone beta human…

    Homemade Potato, Corn and Shrimp Chowder {On the Table}

    8 November 2012 / 0 Comments

    Have you ever wanted to eat something so badly that you thought about it all day long? That’s how I was the other night. I wanted Shrimp and Grits with Fried Chicken. Desperately. So I quickly drove home and, guess what? No grits anywhere in the house. So I started thinking and thinking and thinking and when I finally accepted the fact that I wasn’t going to get in my car and drive back in to town just for some grits, I decided to make chowder. Best decision ever. Here’s the recipe, I hope you agree. What Ya Need 1/2 lb Shrimp, peeled and deveined 2 cans Corn, drained 6…

    Infinity Scarf DIY {On the Hook}

    6 November 2012 / 3 Comments

    I love mustard. Not the condiment, the color. Well, no, I like the condiment too but this isn’t a food post. That’s coming on Thursday, so stick around. Hint: it involves potatoes, corn and shrimp… Anyway, back to the scarf, I’ve been seeing mustard colored clothing and accessories everywhere, yet it was lacking in my wardrobe. Then I remembered this beautiful golden mustard colored yarn I had tucked away and instant happiness was upon me. It took me about three days to whip up this lacy scarf. And don’t you just love the brooch? I may have to hit up some thrift stores for some more. After posting a picture…

    Things That Leave Me Scratchin’ My Head {Coffee Talk}

    2 November 2012 / 6 Comments

    1. A man in China sued his wife for being ugly and won. The husband discovered that his wife had spent $100,000 on intense plastic surgery to change her looks. The surgery was not revealed to the husband until after the birth of their child, whom he described as “incredibly ugly”. The sad part is that this woman discovered way too late that she married a shallow butt head of a man. The real ugliness resides with him and not with the mother and child. 2. An Orange County woman wants to set up a roadside memorial in the city of Irvine to honor hundreds of fish who died in…

    November Photo A Day {Photography}

    1 November 2012 / 0 Comments

    I’m not sure why I keep doing this to myself. Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment or maybe I’m just hoping that one day I will actually complete an entire month of photos. And, well, I kinda like this month’s Photo A Day prompts. I’ll be posting my pictures on Instagram (you can follow me by clicking here) and then doing a weekly wrap up here on the blog. Would you like to participate? Here are the rules: Starting 1 November take a picture using the inspiration from the prompt. Once you’ve taken your photo, share the picture on your blog, Facebook page, flickr, Instagram or Twitter or other preferred social media page. If you’re sharing…

    Retro Baby Blanket {On the Hook}

    30 October 2012 / 2 Comments

    I’ve spent the last few months working on this baby blanket. Not steady work, just off and on when I haven’t felt like doing much of anything else. You know those days, when you need to do something but you don’t want to think too much or too hard? The blanket is for a young couple at our church who are having a baby boy in the next few months. They have two of the most adorable little girls, all bubbly and bouncy and full of giggles, ribbons and bows. That poor little boy is going to have a hard way to go. Smile. I selected the colors: Aran Turquoise…
