Things That Leave Me Scratchin’ My Head {Coffee Talk}
1. That Penn State situation is just getting crazier and crazier. I’m wondering if they’re going to just call it a day and close the school down? Is there any way for them to recover from this? The NCAA has levied all kinds of fines against the school, students are transferring, lawsuits are being filed… In fact, the lawyers for the victim #2 have released an audio of Sandusky offering the guy tickets to the Penn State game if he wants them. Nice. Sandusky ends the call by saying “I love you.” I’m not a violent person but even I want to punch his teeth in. Seriously? His actions are…

Giving Thanks for the Small Things {This or That Thursday}
Sometimes I get so caught up in the big picture that I miss the little things. For example, I took this picture using Instagram because I thought the light coming off the setting sun was just beautiful. In fact, I was so awestruck by the evening sky that I didn’t even notice the lone shopping cart until after I had posted the picture. And it made me think, how many times have I been so involved in the “big” things of life that I forget to give thanks for the “little” things? Life has no guarantees, in fact, Psalm 103:15~16 says: “The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish…

August Photo A Day {Photography}
So did you catch all of my photos for the month of July? No? That’s because I think I took a total of four. Four in 31 days! What the heck, yo? I have a perfectly good camera that has been collecting the proverbial dust because I, hmmm, I don’t have a valid excuse. But since I got called out on Instagram by my friend Mylynka at Finding Fitness in My Forties (notice her name showing up a lot lately?), I guess I’m gonna have to succeed this month. So here it is, Fat Mum Slim’s prompts for August’s Photo A Day Challenge: Would you like to participate? Here are…

Losing Weight and Getting Healthy #6 {#Cinchspiration}
So it seems I’ve reached the dreaded plateau. My weight seems to have gotten stuck between 156 lbs and 158 lbs. I guess I should be happy that I’m not gaining, but I thought for sure I would’ve broken that 155 lb barrier by now.I’m more than a bit disappointed to say the least. I think I’m going to have to look at my calorie intake and see if I need to add more calories. I’m currently holding steady between 1200 and 13oo calories and I know that too little calories can cause your body to retain weight instead of losing it. I may need to bump it up by…

Black Bow Flats {Shoe Style Saturday}
Black Bow Flats: Kmart Yesterday ended my first week at the library. While some things are still pretty new, in many ways it feels like I’ve always been there. Don’t you just love when you ease into a new place and instantly feel comfortable? Most of this week was spent with housekeeping ~ enrolling in benefits, getting my email set up, cleaning up my office, etc. Next week, I hope to actually get into the business of running my department ~ getting some training, finding out exactly what everyone in my department does, etc. Oh, you don’t know what I do? Well, my title is “Library Associate” but what I…

Things That Leave Me Scratchin’ My Head {Coffee Talk}
1. I don’t know about you but when Apple introduced Siri, I was totally jealous. I also had the same flood of envy when Instagram photos started popping up all over Twitter. But now Android user an have their own talking assistant on their phones too. Thanks to my friend, Cathy, at Minister of Style, I found out about Assistant for Android and I’ve been all over it. All you have to do is click here, download and start talking. You can customize the avatar as well as the vocals. So. Much. Fun. 2. Did you see George Zimmerman’s interview with Sean Hannity on Fox? Honestly, his lawyer’s need to…

{Guest Post from Miss 15} Summer School via Television and Other Things I’m Glad I’ll Learn Before I’m EighteenI
HI!!! I’ve been out of school for the last three months and  for some reason, it almost feels like I’ve never left…I mean aside from sleeping in, not riding the bus, and not seeing my school friends every day. I feel like I’m still in school because I’ve been learning things that ordinarily you would learn in school. Most of this is because I’ve been watching nothing but Nick Jr. I admit it! I’m fifteen (gonna be sixteen in January~SQUEE!) and I still watch Nick Jr. Now before you tell your children to make fun of me, here’s why: These shows are actually a lot more entertaining than I thought…

First Day Jitters Instagram Style {In the Library}
Today was my first day at my new job. I was so incredibly nervous. The day began with me standing in front of my closet desperately trying to figure out what to wear… I ended up going with a pair of black flats with a bow on the toe. I wasn’t sure how much walking I’d be doing and the campus has a lot of hills. I was happy with my choice, I totally ended up doing a lot of walking. In the hot Missouri sun. I would’ve been miserable if my feet had hurt too. I work as a librarian at the Kent Library at Southeast Missouri State University. It…

Losing Weight and Getting Healthy #5 {#Cinchspiration}
Wow! I cannot believe it’s been a month already! Gosh, the time has just flown by so quickly. That means that it’s time for me to do the whole full picture and measurement thing. Big heavy sigh. Honestly, it’s not that bad. It’s just that it’s still a little unnerving to put everything out there for everyone to see. So, there I am, in all of my glory. I don’t think the difference is as visible as it is tangible. I seriously feel lighter. My jeans don’t feel as snug around the waist (in fact, I’ve had to start wearing a belt). I would like to see more definition in…
