    ABCs of Me

Google Friend Connect is disappearing soon, but I’d love for us to stay together. You can read my blog in your favorite reader through my RSS feed, join the conversation on Facebook or chat with me on Twitter. Make sure you give a shout out and let me know you’re there! Y’all know I love myself some memes. I think they’re fun and it gives me (and you) a chance to discover new blogs, find out interesting tidbits about other parts of the country (world) and, well, have some fun. So I said all of that to say, I’ve discovered a new meme (and a new blog) that I want…

My Doctor Quit After Diagnosing Me with Cancer #NaBloPoMo

Has anything traumatic ever happened to you? Describe the scenes surrounding a particular event. ~ Adrienne McDonnell {Guest Prompt} I took the registered letter from the mailman and opened the envelope, a sheet of neatly folded paper slipped to the floor. I picked it up and unfolded it: “Dear Mrs. Tucker, This letter is to inform you that you have 30 days to find a new Primary Care Physician. I will no longer be your doctor for the following reasons: You were verbally abusive towards my staff You chose not to follow the recommendations of specialists that I referred you to You did not like the way that I, as…

A Day in My Life in Pictures

The other day, I read a guest post on i heart faces by Jason Zimmerman about how to capture a day in your life using pictures.  I absolutely loved his pictures and decided to give it a try.  My pictures didn’t come out as great, interesting or fascinating as his did but it’s my life and I love it.  And um, capturing a day in your life in photographs is harder than I thought. I took over 100 pictures using my GE X500, a tripod and cell phone.  At the end of the day, I narrowed it down to 62 images.  Then I uploaded them to my computer and began…

Things Happened While I Was Disconnected

So much has happened in the last week and a half that I’ve been disconnected.  Most of it’s been good, some of it’s been bad and the rest has been seriously?  I had planned to write out a post for each and every thing that happened but decided against it.  You know, for my own sanity.  And because I don’t want to overwhelm you with the craziness that is my life right now. So here’s a bit of the happenings from the past few days: We have a home ~ When we moved here, we didn’t have a home.  We had the possibility of a home but nothing definitive.  I…

    Loose Threads and Random Thoughts

I promise I haven’t given up writing for capturing souls with that magic box, it’s just that I’ve been busy taxiing kids, touring Missouri and trying to keep all the other knives that I juggle up in the air.  Really, motherhood is not easy. 1.  I’ve been in Missouri since Thursday ~ flew in first class…  So.  Much.  Leg.  Room.  Our flight attendant was hilarious, swore up and down people tell him he looks like Denzel Washington. Ummm, he was about 5′ 8″ and balding.  But he made me laugh. 2.  I finally got to see my sister’s baby for the first time in 8 months.  Ohmygosh, talk about heart…

Loose Threads and Other Random Thoughts

1.On Friday I received a beautiful ‘Heart of Haiti’ pendant in the mail in exchange for a post that I’d written on behalf of Macy’s, as I read the thank you letter, I couldn’t help but to cry thinking about the artisans who create the pendants.  These are women who create handmade works of art to support themselves and their children.  Items range in price from about $8 to about $280.  I’m not receiving any compensation for this, I just think this is a terrific cause. 2.  I bribe my kids.  People often ask me how I managed to have such well behaved kids and that’s the answer, I bribe…

The Dramatic Story of Our Birth

My sister and I have always known the dramatic story of our birth.  Mom used it as a way to highlight my our need for attention since birth.  And as I tell you the story, you’ll understand that we come by our dramatics honestly.  Thank you, Mom and Dad… It was about 5 AM on a Saturday morning in 1973 when  my dad went racing down the streets of Washington, D.C. in his little Datsun.  With dual horns blaring and my mother tensing up in labor, my dad violated every traffic law on the books.  Really, what do stop lights mean when your wife is about to give birth to…

Day 30: My Hopes, Dreams and Plans for the Next 365 Days

This is the time of year when people start writing resolutions and planning to make big changes for the new year and, I can’t lie, I tend to do the same thing.  So writing this post should come easy but it doesn’t.  Every year I make grand plans and, for the most part, I do a good job of following through.  Until March.  I don’t know why, but March is my “quitting month.” So this year, rather than writing out a list of resolutions, I will share my hopes, dreams and plans for the next 365 days (with the knowledge that, ultimately, everything is in His hands and it is…
