    Coffee Love {This or That Thursday}

    10 May 2012 / 6 Comments

    While taking pictures for this week’s May Photo~A~Day Challenge, I noticed something, I take a lot of pictures of coffee. This week, my obsession seemed to be coffee beans… There’s something about the smoothness of the beans… The richness of the browns… Yep, I love all the things about coffee… Collage Layout Courtesy of Ginger Pixel But, mostly, I love the taste… What are you obsessed with this week? I’m linking up with Deb of deb duty photography for This or That Thursday.

    Shoe Style Saturday

    31 March 2012 / 4 Comments

    I didn’t really do much this week… The hubs got his car back, so we are once again a two car family. Happiness. I think we were both driving each other nuts. I know there are families who share a car and it works for them but I’ve had my own car since I was 20, this was hard. Yesterday, I finally got to see a Keurig in action. A friend of mine invited me to her house for coffee and a movie, and she used her Keurig. OK, that thing is quick! And the coffee was delish. I had a flavor called “The Donut Shop”, which I sweetened with…

    Scavenger Hunt Sunday

    26 February 2012 / 17 Comments

    Today was crazy! I was getting out of the car at church and I heard a riiiip. Yep, my whole backside was exposed because I ripped my skirt. I mumbled a quick explanation to the minister and went back home. Fortunately, I was in the parking lot when it happened, but still… It was hard to make graceful exit without mooning everyone. 1. Crossed The back of a wrought iron chair on the front porch where the hubs and I like to sit and enjoy evening coffees. 2. A Glimpse Miss 15, the only family member who will let me photograph her. Like her mother, she enjoys the attention. 3.…

    Passion {Poetic Winter Photography Challenge}

    17 February 2012 / 16 Comments

    I think it goes without saying that I’m passionate about my faith and my family… So I decided to share something else that I’m passionate about that many of you may not know. It’s Natural Hair. I’m in the process of transitioning from relaxed {also known as chemically straightened hair} to natural hair. I don’t talk about it because it just is… Although I think some day I may write something about the love~hate relationship that Black women have with their hair. I’m also passionate about my morning coffee… And having the light hit me the way that it did with a steaming cup of coffee in hand… What could…

    IF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE HERE, PLEASE JOIN ME ON FACEBOOK! A steaming cup of coffee… Warms my freezing cold hands {Edited using “Caramel” texture from The CoffeeShop Blog} “It seems to me that trying to live without friends is like milking a bear to get cream for your morning coffee. It is a whole lot of trouble, and then not worth much after you get it.” ~ Zora Neale Hurston February is Black History Month, so I’ll be trying to share quotes from famous African Americans to go along with my photographs for the challenge. Ohhh, look a little history lesson to go with the pretty pictures… I’m linking up…

    Random Saturday

    21 January 2012 / 6 Comments

    1. I spent some time at my “fortress of solitude” aka the Cape Girardeau Conservation Center. I love it there. It’s so quiet. I just grab my camera and walk. Sometimes I’ll come across other people and we’ll chat for a bit, other times, it’s as if I have the whole wooded area to myself. 2. Have you ever walked past a mirror caught a glimpse of yourself and thought Who is that? That’s what happened to me the other day. I was putting my resume together and as I read it, I saw this person who is so very different from who I’ve become that it shocked me. The…

    Loose Threads and Random Thoughts

    3 September 2011 / 7 Comments

    Do you like taking pictures?  I’m not talking about just snapping pictures of your kids while they’re little so you can remember how sweet they used to be once they become teens?  I mean, do you carry your camera everywhere you go?  I do.  I love snapping pictures and playing with the various editing tools.  I’ve even joined a couple of photography challenges.  This fall I’ll be joining up with Kristi and her crew for the Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge.  For more information, go here.  If you decide to join up, let me know in the comments. Last night I had the worst case of insomnia.  Ever.  I suspect…

    Starbucks App for Android is Finally Here

    14 June 2011 / 0 Comments

    And life just got a little bit better.  Can I tell you how excited I am about this?  The Starbucks app allows you to pay for your coffee using your mobile phone (currently only available at 6800 stores including all Target® Starbucks stores, just use the filter to see if your store accepts mobile payments).  You can also use the app to register your card, check your balance, track your stars and reload your balance. Once you download the app, you’ll be asked to sign in or create an account.  You will then have the option of enabling mobile payments.  Next you’ll add your card number if you have one.  Then…

    Coffee Bars in the High School

    9 November 2010 / 17 Comments

    A few months ago, I noticed that my kids were running around the house collecting any loose coins that they found lying around on the tables, in the car, etc.  This didn’t bother me, I thought maybe they were being industrious and trying to save money, after all, they know that my husband and I have been collecting coins for years.  Snicker if you want, but by the end of the year we once had a little over $600.  But when they started hitting up my coin stash, I got suspicious. “What are you doing?” I asked Miss 13.  She looked at me in the way that only a 13~year~old…
