The MV Mississippi: Largest Diesel Tugboat {In the Neighborhood}
The Hubs and I often have deep and meaningful conversations, especially on Saturday mornings when we’re trying to decide what we want to do besides eat breakfast… The Hubs: “What do you want to do?” Me: “I don’t know. What do you want to do?” The Hubs: “You can’t answer a question with a question.” Me: “Oh.” We finished eating breakfast in relative silence, both of us checking our cell phones and sending each other goofy jokes. Yeah, we’re those people. Then I saw a tweet from Visit Cape announcing that the MV Mississippi would be docked in Cape Girardeau and they’d be holding an open house. So I casually…

Weekend Wrap Up {In the Cafe}
Hi, all. This has been a weird two weeks for me. I’ve been sleeping almost nonstop. Last time I did this, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. I’m guessing since I’ve had the little bugger removed, that isn’t the issue. Maybe my hormones are off again? Time to schedule an appointment with the endocrinologist. Funny part is my mind feels a whole lot sharper than it has in a loooong time. Result of all the sleep? Sometimes being a woman is hard – hormones all over the place. No pictures for that, you do not want to see crazy. And speaking of sleeping, yesterday the hubs fell asleep on the…

Weekend Update {In the Neighborhood}
The 4th of July weekend has come and gone. Way too quickly. We didn’t have any real plans because I had to work on Friday, so we just kinda played it by ear. 1. Why is it during the week day I could sleep til noon, but come the weekend my internal alarm goes off at 5:30 AM? The only way to make it through was with an extra large cup of coffee. Actually, that’s how I start just about every morning but you knew that already, didn’t ya? 2. The hubs and I went to the park to see the car show. There were so many vintage cars, tricked…

Date Night at the Mississippi River {In the Neighborhood}
When you’re a parent, finding time for a date night can be hard. Sometimes it seems impossible. But, let me tell you, it’s so vitally important that you carve out time for each other. I know a lot of moms put their children first but your marriage should come first and then the kids. Trust me on this one. One day your kids are going to grow up and leave your home and you’re gonna be stuck with that man that you married and the last thing you want is to be stuck staring at a stranger who you have absolutely no desire to get to know. Anyway, one of the things…

Saturday Wanderings {About Me}
For the past few weeks I’ve been nearly vibrating with excitement; the hubs and I were supposed to go to Tennessee to visit my sister. But as with all of the best laid plans, this one fell through and the hubs and I were left wondering what we should do… We ended up running a few errands and then heading down to one of our favorite haunts: the Mississippi River Walk. We enjoy sitting on the banks of the river with coffees and people watching. For whatever reason, we didn’t stop for coffee before heading downtown. Not cool. Did you notice that she has coffee? This is also a little…

Random Stuff {This or That Thursday}
The other day I was cleaning up my desktop and found about a million folders marked “New Folder” {Why do I name them that? Can’t I be just a little bit more original? Descriptive even?} and inside of them were a couple hundred unedited photographs. These are just a few of them… These buildings overlook the Mississippi River in downtown Cape Girardeau, Missouri and are being converted into lofts. I would really like to get a chance to take a look inside but my dream would be to live in one… I just think they’re absolutely beautiful. The Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge spanning the mighty Mississippi River, the hubs and…

The River Walk {This or That Thursday}
Yesterday I went for a quick photo walk along the Mississippi River… Without fail, I always take a picture of the Port Cape Girardeau… It’s just a beautiful old building and that Coca~Cola {thanks, Ellie, now you know my soda preference} sign on the side is priceless… But I think my new favorite building may be the B’Nai Israel Synagogue that I discovered on my way home. Built in 1937, it reminds me of the Middle Eastern architecture that I love so much… What did you photograph this week? I’m linking up with Deb of deb duty photography for This or That Thursday.

Saturday at the Water Front
This has been one beautiful weekend. The weather was gorgeous. So gorgeous, in fact, that I conned talked the hubs into driving me down to the Water Front so I could take some pictures. I needed a landscape picture for 52 Weeks: 2012 Edition, so I pointed my camera at the Mississippi River and started shooting… Isn’t it beautiful? Sometimes I like to go down there during the day and just sit and watch the water. It’s a nice way to just sit back and relax, ya know? Someone on the Water Front is pretty artistic, they took the time to paint those bricks and then discarded them on the…
