Rain Drops {In the Dark Room}
This week’s theme for the 365 Project: 2013 Edition is “Water”. This is one of my submissions for this week; if you’d like to see the rest of my daily pictures, click here. Such an appropriate theme for this week, it has been raining almost every day. Well, no, that’s not true. It only seems to rain on the weekends or when I have the day off. A conspiracy? I think so. Date Night at the Mississippi River {In the Neighborhood}
When you’re a parent, finding time for a date night can be hard. Sometimes it seems impossible. But, let me tell you, it’s so vitally important that you carve out time for each other. I know a lot of moms put their children first but your marriage should come first and then the kids. Trust me on this one. One day your kids are going to grow up and leave your home and you’re gonna be stuck with that man that you married and the last thing you want is to be stuck staring at a stranger who you have absolutely no desire to get to know. Anyway, one of the things…

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was beyond wonderful. My twin sister and I celebrated our 39th birthday {you can read the crazy story surrounding our birth by going here} and the hubs and I celebrated our 17th anniversary. Longest starter marriage. Ever. But, most importantly, the hubs was baptized today! 1. Water From the archives. There’s something about black and white photos of rain that bring me such a feeling of peace. 2. Light This was taken for the March Photo~A~Day Challenge. I like the way the light from my lamp casts a subtle glow over my night stand. 3. Chocolate I love Cadbury Creme Eggs.…

Calm {Poetic Winter Photography Challenge}
A verse from one of my mother’s favorite songs. When I was little she used to sing it all the time. How can you not find calm in the midst of such beautiful words? When I’m in need of peace and quiet, I often grab my camera and go to the Cape Girardeau Conservation Center. Just walking in the woods, listening to the whisper of the wind helps me to center. And at the end of the night, when everyone is snuggled in their beds, I cozy up on the sofa with a book and a cup of green tea. I’m linking up with Alicia of Project Alicia, Faith of Sweet Violet, Kristi…

Crazy Days of Summer: My Favorite Summer Memories
I’ve enjoyed this challenge so much. Seeing the pictures that others have taken, makes me want to do better, aim differently, focus on one feature and just have fun. I’ve also learned a lot from the various tips and suggestions that some of you have included with your photographs. Thank you for teaching and encouraging me. Now without further ado, here are some of my favorite pictures from the summer: An abandoned building that holds memories of cousins playing… An annoying fly made beautiful… Tranquil waters in the city park… A chipmunk eating a pilfered Beggin’ Strip… A splash of red in the midst of greens and browns… A last…

Crazy Days of Summer: Water
JOIN ME FOR SHOE STYLE SATURDAY It’s a fun meme all about shoes. For more information, click here. Frances Slocum State Park A few weeks ago, the hubs suggested that we drive to the lake and take some pictures. This was one of the best ideas he’d had in a long time. The lake was incredibly beautiful and watching people fish was relaxing. Huntsville Dam This dam is about 300 feet from my house. Hard to believe something so beautiful can be so dangerous. A few years ago, it burst and we were evacuated from our homes at 2 something in the morning. Hard part? Remembering to take the necessities and…
