Shock {Nails to the Yeah}
OK, y’all, I may need you to save me from myself! Seriously, look at those traffic cone orange nails. I know I said that I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and try new shades but, dang, this is like running past the caution tape and falling off the cliff. I’ma have to reign it in… The color is called “Shock” by L.A. Colors and it is quite the shock. Every time I looked at my hands I was startled. As much as I hate the color. And, yes, I hate the color, the nail polish itself is probably one of the best polishes I’ve used in forever.…

Crocheted Flowers {Feeling Crafty}
I’ve always been a crafty kinda person. I remember as a young girl designing clothes in a sketch pad. And naming each and every outfit. I used to dream of showing my clothes in Paris, opening little boutiques across the U.S., falling in love with Billy Dee Williams. The last was the result of a late night viewing of Mahogany… Eventually, I put aside the sketch pads, colored pencils and dreams of Billy in favor of a typewriter Am I dating myself? and decided that I wanted to become a reporter foreign correspondent to be precise. Well, none of those dreams have panned out… But I have started creating things…

Breaking Curfew {Nails to the Yeah}
When I was growing up, I was the family rebel. My only purpose in life was to exasperate my mother, shock my father and thrill my sisters. Some would say I suffered from “Middle Child Syndrome” ~ you know, stuck in the middle, always fighting for parental attention. Whatevs… I had fun. Our curfew was “12:30, no later than quarter to 1.” Even after I grew up, joined the Army and had a child. My mother was serious, no excuses. Ever. One weekend, while visiting her, I decided to go out with some friends and I left my infant daughter with her. Thinking I was grown {I was 20 with a…

What I Wore Wednesday #29
JOIN ME FOR SHOE STYLE SATURDAY THIS SATURDAY FOR MORE INFORMATION, CLICK HERE Last week I talked about how I’d entered a fashion slump so I was using the Outfit Inspiration Calendar posted by Fab Finds Under $50 to dress each morning, and let me tell ya, it’s worked! I’ve worn items in my closet that I haven’t worn in months (years?) and put together textures and patterns that I would have shied away from a long time ago. Seriously, if you need to step out of your fashion comfort zone, I totally recommend using the calendar. Thursday: Add Some Pink I’m so not a pink girl so this was a bit…

What I Wore Wednesday #28
Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve participated in What I Wore Wednesday. Don’t worry, I haven’t been walking around nekkid or anything, but I have been in a bit of a fashion funk. Yeah, I was still putting together my outfits but it was just taking so much effort. And everything was starting to look the same, then I stumbled across Fab Finds Under $50 and my inspiration was renewed. Each month, Kimberly provides a calendar with daily fashion challenges to try. Fun, no? Now I can’t guarantee that I’ll participate every day but I know that I will try to hit every day that I possibly can. What…

New House Tour: The Living Room
I love my new house. One of the things I knew I wanted in our new place was a lot of light. I wanted to be able to take photographs inside without running around, gathering lamps from all over the house and then aiming them at my subject. I also wanted a fireplace. I may not ever use it but I wanted one. I just think they add warmth to the living space. I wasn’t sure if my old world eclectic style from the old house would fit in this house (click here to see pictures of the old house) but the hubs was convinced everything would work. And, I…

Shoe Style Saturday
A few years ago, a friend of mine sent me a postcard that said: “Change your shoes, change your mood.” I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Whenever I put on these shoes, I feel young, flirty and fun. I don’t wear them often, just enough to remind myself that there’s still a young, flirty and fun woman under all the mom stuff… Do you have a pair of shoes that are mood changers? To participate in Shoe Style Saturday, all you have to do is take a picture of your shoes post them to your blog hit the link leave a comment visit other participants So, come on and show…
