Hey, Friends! Welcome to 2024. Can you believe we’re in a new year? It really does feel like it all passed so quickly, right? I won’t make any promises for this year. I never seem to follow through and, quite honestly, I’m tired of apologizing for it. So I’ll make every effort to just be and do better than I did last year. Whatever that may mean.

And I already broke that because look at this post right here.

ABOUT WHERE BLOGGERS LIVE

Welcome to the monthly edition of Where Bloggers Live. It’s kind of like HGTV’s “Celebrities at Home,” but…Bloggers! Who doesn’t like to peek behind the scenes and see inside people’s homes? Over the next few months, we’ll share about our work spaces, home towns, and more!

I should note – because this is super important – the creative brain behind this project is Bettye at Fashion Schlub! Love her!

THE PROMPT: How I stay warm in cold weather

As some of y’all know, I live in Louisiana and we like to think it doesn’t get cold here, but it does. Not like it did in Pennsylvania or Missouri {both places where I used to live}, but it gets too danged cold for me to be in the south. As an FYI, anything below 72° is cause for me to complain.

But I try not to complain too much.

Living in cold places has allowed me to curate the best coat wardrobe ever.

While not worn for warmth, this Suzani coat is a nice third piece that can be worn as outerwear or as a duster. I tend to wear it as a duster more often than not. Layered over a summer dress, it’s perfect for transitional weather days.

How absolutely fabulous is this faux fur and shearling coat? I don’t get to wear it often, but when I do… It’s absolutely magical. I tend to wear this with jeans and a turtle neck because it makes everything feel so very cozy.

Like the Suzani coat above, this isn’t really winter coat so much as a great layering piece that can be worn as a duster or outerwear. I like to wear this with either jeans or a long dress.

I know most people don’t look at suede coats as something to be worn for warmth, but layered with a chunky sweater and jeans, it’s absolutely perfect.

On days when there’s just the gentlest of breezes, I like to wear this fun tweed blazer. It gives dark academia. I wear this blazer with everything from dresses and skirts to jeans and leggings.

So that’s it, a few of my favorite coats and jackets for keeping warm on cold Louisiana days.

Oh, I also have the best collection of upcycled fingerless gloves handmade by my friend, Teri, at Green Phoenix Threads.

I’d love to read your answers to a couple of these questions, please share in the comments below.
