Magnolia Flower {living outside the stacks}

The Hubs and I had guests this weekend. Friends of ours from Pennsylvania drove down to pick up our RV and take it back to Pennsylvania with them. They’re planning to use it as a guest house on their land. I mean, they also plan to go RVing, but they want it for when friends and family come to visit. Don’t you just love that idea? They live on a mountain top in Pennsylvania with a lot of acreage, so it just fits their needs.

I like the idea but if I were going to do something like that, I’d want a vintage Airstream. They’re small and sleek and have that boho vibe that I adore. Something like this or even this.

THE THEME: My Top 5, ummmm, 3 Movies

Honestly, I’m not much of a movie watcher. Our friends and I were just talking about movies last night and I said that I can’t sit still long enough to enjoy a movie. I get bored and restless. Which is odd because I can binge watch entire TV shows with no issues. I don’t get it. Right now, I’m bingeing Bloodline. I’m not deeply invested yet as I’m only 3 episodes in, but it works for background noise while I edit pictures or write blog posts {which I’m starting to do again now that my blog has been fixed}.

  1. The Harder They Fall – A Western with an all-star cast and a banging soundtrack. This is one of those movies that I couldn’t wait to watch — the hype surrounding it was worth it. This movies puts African Americans back into the Hollywood Western. I especially liked all the contemporary Easter eggs such as the tribute to Chadwick Boseman, the references to African American history, and other African American cultural touch points.
  2. Imitation of Life {1934, 1959} – Both movies center around single white moms who form relationships with single Black women. While both movies center the success of the white women based on the sacrifices of the Black women, the movies were both well ahead of their time for a variety of reasons, among them: the depictions of  single motherhood, autonomy, race relations, and passing.
  3. Somewhere in Time – I fell in love to this movie and that’s all I’m going to say about that.

IT’S YOUR TURN

What are your top 3 movies? Leave a comment letting me know.
