Hey, y’all, hey! How are things in your neck of the woods? Things are going well here — just working and working, prepping for graduation {my favorite time of the year}.

ABOUT 10 ON THE 10TH

10 on the 10th is hosted by Marsha at Marsha in the Middle. In the tradition of old school blogging, she’ll share a list of ten questions or prompts to help us get to know each other better. The linkup goes live on the tenth of the month.

THE PROMPT: Tell us about 10 of your favorite things

May 10 on the 10th Prompt

5 Things I Can Do in May

  1. I can take graduation photos for the college. Actually, this is more of a will than a can. Our students graduate on 21 May and I’ll be taking the pictures as I do every year. And, while this is incredibly stressful — if I miss a shot or someone doesn’t like their picture or whatever — I really enjoy it because it’s all about celebrating our students.
  2. I can take some time to figure out how to preserve my plants. I love plants but they do not love me. I don’t understand how they thrive under neglect at big box stores and then collapse under my care within a week.
  3. I can start seriously blogging again. I gave a brief outline of what I’d like to do in this post.
  4. I can do more to protect libraries and librarians. I’m sick of the misinformation about the work that librarians do. I’m sick of some folks leaning so hard into ignorance that they’re literally putting the lives of librarians in danger.
  5. I can finish reading a novel. I’m currently reading Sula with @wellreadblackgirl on Instagram. My goal is to finish one novel per month. I can do this.

5 Things I May Do in May

  1. I may start using my Peloton again. I stopped soon after getting Covid a little over a year ago and haven’t been back on it regularly since. I used to ride it daily for the first two years after I bought it, then I got Covid and I haven’t felt the same since. I still struggle with walking up stairs and things like that. But I miss those 30 to 45 minutes of “me time.”
  2. I may start crocheting again. I would really like to move beyond scarves and blankets and create something wearable. I love love love granny square cardigans and would love to make one in my choice of colors.
  3. I may finish decorating our primary bedroom. I started — bought curtains, a couple of throws, and a comforter — then I stopped. I’m not sure why, but I really need to get back to it. It’s the nest, it needs to be cozy. I’m thinking something like this, very similar to my home office but darker and a bit more dramatic.
Whhhhhy is it so hard for me to come up with the last two things that I may do?
  4. I know, I may dye my hair. I used to dye it burgundy, but I haven’t dyed it yeeeeears. I love my grays and seeing the natural color of my hair, but I also miss the burgundy. I’d really like it burgundy with a few hot pink streaks. It’s almost summer, I think it’d look so good.
  5. I may catch up on my photography challenge. I tapped out about 6 weeks into the challenge. I’m not sure why. I guess I just got lazy. But there’s still time. I mean, the year ain’t up yet.

I’d love to read your answers to a couple of these questions, please share in the comments below.
