Welcome to the first 10 on the 10th of 2023! Can you believe it’s 2023? In so many ways it feels like time just sopped, but it also feels like it’s flying by. It’s such a weird feeling, ya know? Do you have any big plans for the year? So far, I’ve got nothing. Much…

Things are going well here. I’m ready to go back to work. I spent last week in quarantine, but I’m not complaining, I got to finish my first read of 2023. It was a four-star read for me. I’m on to my next read now: Dirty Diversity: A Practical Guide to Foster…

Project 365: Week 1
Hey, y ‘all, hey! How’s your 2023 so far? I started mine with Covid. After a week of quarantine, I’m on the upward swing — I’m so happy. Fortunately, I didn’t have to deal with a fever or anything, but I was extremely tired and achy. I also had stomach issues and light headedness. That part seems to be subsiding faster than the lethargy and achiness. Towards the end of last year, I started thinking very seriously about attempting another 365 project {a photography project where you take a picture every day for a year}. I’ve tried before and failed, but this is a big year for me. I turn…

Y’all, when I say 2023 is already off to a bumpy start, I’m not kidding. I spent part of New Year’s Eve in the ER because my oxygen levels dipped courtesy of Covid. If I’ve ever wondered how my family would fare should I take seriously ill, I know they’ll be OK. The Hubs rushed…

Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support. Hey, y’all, hey. How are y’all doing? I’m doing well. We’re at the break in our term, so I can breathe. A little bit. We’re still working on our SACS accreditation so it’s not a real break. Still, it’s better than nothing. That being said, I do plan to spend some of my down time crocheting another sweater.…

What I Wore: Wrapping Myself in Velvet

Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support. I would drape myself in velvet if it were socially acceptable. There are very few things that George Costanza said on Seinfeld that I’d agree with, but that single line so accurately sums up my feelings about velvet that I could’ve written it. Velvet is one of my favorite fabrics, the others are faux suede and leather. In…

How are y’all doing? I’m still flying high — my son and daughter surprised me with a weekend visit. We were trying to figure out how long it has been since we’ve all been under one roof {it has been over 5 years}. My oldest and youngest kids couldn’t make it, but it will happen.…

How are y’all doing? I’m doing well. Just working and that’s about it. In my down time, I’m reading Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson. Have you read it? It has me thinking deeply about the inequities within the justice system and the death penalty. Stay tuned for my book…

My Photography Project: The Wedding
It is such a happiness when good people get together – and they always do. – Jane Austen Julie and Tom are such a fun couple. From the moment I met them {which was the day of the wedding} until we said our “good nights,” I felt nothing but love and friendship from them and their families. For a little background on our friendship, Julie is a friend of a high school friend that I also became friends with… I’m not even sure how long ago, but it has been years. When she announced that she was getting married, our mutual friend and I decided to attend the wedding. My…

We use this time {Manufacturing Month, Manufacturing Week, and Manufacturing Day} to host open houses for potential students, business partners, and community members so they can learn about…
