This or That Thursday
Google Friend Connect is disappearing soon, but I’d love for us to stay together. You can read my blog in your favorite reader through my RSS feed, join the conversation on Facebook or chat with me on Twitter. Make sure you give a shout out and let me know you’re there! Eep! This is it, the last month of the year! How is that even possible? Weren’t we all just wearing shorts and complaining about the heat only a few days ago? I’m so glad that the hubs and the kids have been so supportive of my growing interest in photography and blogging. I’m happy that they’ve allowed me to…

Word Filled Wednesday: Remember the Sabbath
Google Friend Connect is disappearing soon, but I’d love for us to stay together. You can read my blog in your favorite reader through my RSS feed, join the conversation on Facebook or chat with me on Twitter. Make sure you give a shout out and let me know you’re there! Rush rush rush, it always seems like I’m in a hurry to catch up on stuff. That’s my life, 24/7. Whoa, wait! Did I just say 24/7? Yes, I did. And that’s a problem. The Lord tells us in Exodus 20:10 that the seventh day is the Lord’s day and on that day we nor anyone in our households…

Random Thoughts
How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was pretty good, we spent it with the parentals. My dad had knee replacement surgery a few weeks ago and is using a walker, this has provided endless amusement for me. Yesterday, I decorated it with ribbons and bells ~ you can check out the picture by clicking here. Last night, I heard a story on CNN about pastors who encourage their members to tweet during services and I thought Hmmmm, I dunno how I feel about this… I know some people tweet during conferences and things like that but tweeting during church? It annoys me to see people with their earpieces in during the…

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: Finale
Can you believe we’re at the end of the challenge? Where did the time go? Is winter really just around the corner? *sigh* I’d like to thank our older full hosts for putting this challenge together ~ great job, ladies. And to all of the participants, thank you for sharing your lives and your skill each week. I tip my hat to all of you, y’all are incredibly talented. So much has changed since we first began the Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge seven weeks ago. Temps were hovering in the high 90s, the trees were lush with green leaves and my family and I were settling in to our…

Happy Thanksgiving!
This year, I’m thankful for so much ~ I’m thankful for a God who has shown me love and mercy through it all. I’m thankful for my family who has been through so many changes this year but has grown closer and more loving. I’m thankful for new friends who’ve helped me to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new things. And I’m thankful for you, my readers, you’ve laughed and cried with me over the past year and offered words of encouragement when I needed it. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Thank you, I’m linking up with Internet Cafe Devotions for Word Filled Wednesday and Deb Duty Photography…

Hanging with My Sister
One of the benefits of moving from Pennsylvania to Missouri is that it has put me within driving distance of my twin sister, which means that I get to see my nephews… The chubby baby, whom I affectionately call “Baby Danny” even though that’s not his name. In the middle of our conversation, Baby Danny got up and started walking towards the hubs… And the other, whom I call “Little A” even though he assures me that he is, in fact, a “big boy”… After being away from my sister for over a decade, I’m thrilled that I now get to capture special moments with her and her family… How…

Random Thoughts
The boy got his learner’s permit this week. That’s pretty scary. I’ve lived with this boy all of his life and I’ve seen him do some things that have made me shake my head… Now he’s about to be turned lose on the public. Behind the wheel of a vehicle. Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought When did I become a grown up? I mean seriously, when did life become about bills, jobs, kids and stuff? What happened to the fun that we thought we’d have as soon as we got out of our parents’ house? Oh, yeah, that’s what lead to the kids and the becoming…

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: White #NaBloPoMo
I know I said orange was difficult to find but let me tell you, white was darned near impossible. I mean I didn’t get desperate enough to wish for snow or anything but I did have to get creative with some eggs for a couple of shots and dip into my folder of old photographs for others. I took these pictures at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Center late last week. I love walking around the Conservation Center, it’s so beautiful and peaceful. I can’t wait to go there in the Spring and Summer when all of the flowers are in bloom and the butterfly gardens are alive with the flitter…

This or That Thursday #NaBloPoMo
This week has been spent learning how to use Nia, my new Nikon D3100. I have to admit, I was a bit intimidated by all the settings but the Guide setting has made it so easy to figure out what I’m doing. I’ve practiced using the Automatic, Guide and Manual settings and I’m pretty impressed with the quality of all of the photos, but I also see that I have a long way to go but here are a few of my shots from this week: My dog, Squeekerz… This was taken at my house using the flash and overhead lighting, I also used the Macro setting Night Scene I…

Word Filled Wednesday: A Time for Everything #NaBloPoMo
Sometimes it feels like things aren’t working out and my prayers aren’t being answered, but I have to remember that God works in His time, not mine. Every phase of life has its seasons, there will be times when the blessings are overflowing but there will also be times when it feels like I’m barely keeping my head above water ~ God’s gift comes not at the end of the trial but in making it through. I’m linking up with:
